Hi, I am heading toNYC from NE Ohio for a weekend trip in Nov, and I want to find somewhere to park where I do not have to drive into the really busy parts of the city. What is a good spot I could pay to leave my car, and be able to get transportation to my hotel? I am more worried about convience than price. I am staying at the Marriott Marquis. I'm arriving on a Friday and staying till Sunday. Thank you!! Show Report inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save When you include cost of gas, tolls, and the daily costs of parking (which can be quite expensive in Manhattan), is driving really that much significantly cheaper than flying? Not to mention driving obviously takes much more time. Report inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save Check out the parking lots towards the west edge of Manhattan around 11th ave. You may even be able to find a free spot during the weekend, that area is pretty much dead anyway. Report inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save If you want convenience, you can use the hotel's own parking. If not that, I'd use that bestparking web site that LMVManchester gave you (bestparking includes all the icon lots, so I'd start there) -- it's a great resources I use it all the time. There are a number of indoor , 24 hour lots nearby (the Marquis is between 45th & 46th on 7th avenue -- you'll need that info when you look at the map that bestparking gives you (select the option to pick parking by Attraction and then selectTimes Square) Driving into the city isn't so bad but driving across town (ie, west to east or east to west) can be very time consuming, depending on the time of day. And if you're destination is on a one way street going the the other way it can be a real pain to circle around. In your case, since you'll have luggage and all, it will be worth it to get as close as possible Another option, which I'm not necessarily suggesting, it to park outside the city and take the train in. People who are nervous about driving in the city do this. Edited: 11 years agoReport inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save Driving in and paying for parking at the hotel & just leaving thecar there while you visit is the best IMO, but if you feel the drive in and out will be too trying- You could always pay for parking around Secaucus and take the bus into Port Authority (42nd St. a few blocks from the hotel)- http://www.njtransit.com/pdf/bus/T1124.pdf You will have to scout out parking by the bus stops in Secaucus. Good Luck! Report inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save I think there are better options for parking outside the city than Secaucus but right now the OP sounds like he/she is OK driving in. I only mentioned in the first place just in case it might appeal to them -- we can give several other options Report inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save Hi Amy - I drive in from NE Ohio every year for Thanksgiving. Are you asking this question because you think it might be intimidating driving into the City ? If so - don't be. I too first thought this way but after doing it it no Big deal. I come in over the GWB and use either the Henry Hudson Hgwy or the FDR (west or east side highways) depending upon which side of town I 'm staying on. They lead you down either side of the City and the cross streets are clearly marked with exits. Go for it and use the above mentioned web sites to find the least expensive lots nearest your hotel. Good Luck Report inappropriate content

Re: Driving from Ohio to NYC - where to park?? 11 years ago Save We also often drive into the city and park using the Icon or Best Parking website. You can find a lot close to your hotel, book the reservation and lock in the rate online. The online map shows where the garage entrance is as well as street directions.
