How to get mouse out of room Reddit

I just woke up to a loud but tiny as hell mouse in my room. Scared the shit out of me and thought someone was gonna try to break into my home. I have seen so many and heard so many and my parents don’t seem to care/ keep putting it off. I have set the usual traps but they eat the peanut butter and don’t get snapped. They know to avoid sticky traps plus I don’t want to see a live struggling mouse cause I actually cry when I see them like that. My parents REFUSE to get a cat cause they are so stuck on no pets (even though we have had a cat and dog) anyways any tips would be appreciated so so much. I am just so fed up and it’s 3 am. Goodnight

No point being soft, they’re a pest and better off dead.

Sticky paper is a horrific way to kill them. Suggest don’t do that. It’s a slow and torturous death.

Use the usual snap traps, reset them daily and use a bunch of them. Best success is using a ball of thread with peanut butter- some mice are delicate enough to nibble without trapping themselves- the thread catches their teeth.

If you can’t stomach fixing up dead mice then you need pest control.

Don’t catch and release, they’ll just come back.

How to get mouse out of room Reddit

I have tried just about every type of trap, I've sealed every hole I could find with expanding foam, I've called the exterminators a few times but they still keep getting into the house. I'm about to loose my fucking mind please advise.

Edit: I'm not getting a cat again.

Edit 2: Caught one with a sticky trap, going to the store to get more, blacklight made me want to die when I saw everything glowing.

There is a mouse scurrying around in my bedroom. I don't know how it got in, but possibly through an open window if it wanted a change of scene/temperature from outside.

Been stood on the bed armed with a broom each, attempting to trap it under cardboard boxes, but so far it has been outpacing us. It has now been an hour, and am super sleepy with reaction times getting sluggish.

Does anyone have any tips for catching live mice? I'll probably get a pest control company out in the morning to get some traps down (any idea what they charge?).

In the meantime since we can't seem to catch it we're thinking of just sealing off the bedroom with duct tape against the door frame at the bottom, and sleeping on the sofa. Kicked out of my own bedroom by a bloody mouse.

Edit: now camped on sofa watching olympics. Mouse has the run of the bedroom tonight. Will put traps down in the morning and see if it goes for them.

Edit 2: mid day on mouse day + 1. No further signs of mouse. I've laid multiple high power snap traps around the skirting board, baited with dabs of Sainsburys own brand smooth peanut butter. Will report back with any catchings/sightings.

I had mice a few years ago, and I used the standard things. Mousetraps work well -- try baiting them with peanut butter. The sticky traps work well if your mice are heavy enough to stick to them. I didn't have much luck with poison pellets, and you can't use them if you have pets or small children.

You can also use peppermint oil to "herd" them out of or into specific areas. For example, if they hide out behind your fridge, you might not be able to put a trap back there. But you can take some cotton balls, apply peppermint oil, and put them where you don't want the mice to be. The scent is too strong for them, and they'll avoid those areas.

I have had the unfortunate happenstance of having 2 rats in my apartment within 6 months. The standard wood-and-wire rat traps didn't cut it with these guys, but I found that the more expensive T-rex snap traps did good work.

They are easy to set, easy to bait, and do a great job of killing the little guys.

If you're opting for a lethal method, this is what I would recommend. Just be sure that your pets are kept out of the area of the trap for their own safety.

Some tips:

Mice and rats like to travel along the edges of things (walls, along the bottoms of cabinets in the kitchen, etc.) Setting a trap up out in the open is libel to net you little reward, but if you set up a trap along the edge of a wall you suspect the mouse might travel (Or better yet, a concave corner) you will have a much easier time catching them.

You may know this, but Peanut butter is the best kind of bait to use with these traps. Mice can't just snatch the food up and run off without triggering the trap. They have to stay and lick it up to get their fill, increasing the chance of triggering the trap.

Don't use poison. Not only is it dangerous for other animals (like your pets ) but it doesn't work fast. Poison can take anywhere from 4 to 7 to even 14 days to kill the little guys! Aside from being a pretty painful way to die, sick mice and rats will often hide themselves away in impossible-to-reach areas before they die, making it hard-impossible to recover the body before it starts to decompose.
