I just cant get you outta my head 2022

Peggy Gou has shared a new remix of Kylie Minogue‘s 2001 hit ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’. The remix was commissioned by ice cream brand Magnum to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the song.

“I can’t quite believe it’s been twenty years since I released this song,” said Minogue of the new version in a press statement. “I’m a big fan of Peggy, and I’m so excited for everyone to hear this remix.”

Gou added: “Partnering with one of my musical icons to remix what is an undisputed club classic is a dream come true. From personal experience, ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ is one of those songs that transports, moves and uplifts people all over the world.

“Classics like this never go out of style, but I’ve loved being able to put my own personal stamp on such a legendary track.”

Gou’s remix arrives alongside a video directed by Tim Brown and Maxime Bruneel, with animation from Seo Inji that puts a fresh spin on the clip for the original version. Watch that below:

Minogue released her 15th studio album, ‘Disco’, in November 2020. An expanded ‘Guest List Edition’ then arrived the following year, featuring new tracks ‘Can’t Stop Writing Songs About You’ (featuring Gloria Gaynor) and ‘Kiss Of Life’ (featuring Jessie Ware), along with ‘A Second To Midnight’, a collaboration with Years & Years.

Reviewing ‘Disco’, NME called the album “a consistently uplifting set that feels like Minogue’s best album since 2010’s ‘Aphrodite’.

“Her sister Dannii is rumoured to have claimed that ‘Minogues don’t sweat’. In that case, let’s say that ‘Disco’ shimmers with a warm glittery glow that’s just irresistible.”

Gou, meanwhile, recently featured on the soundtrack for The Batman alongside artists such as Nirvana, Alesso and Baauer.

I just cant get you outta my head 2022

Australian dance-pop royalty Kylie Minogue has had her classic track “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head” get the remix treatment from Korean powerhouse Peggy Gou.

The remix is a fairly subtle nod to the danceability of the original track that has been storming dancefloors across Australia and globally for decades. It also features a fun edit of the original music video with Peggy and Kylie zooming around town.

The crossover has come courtesy of Magnum Ice Cream which is giving us flashbacks to the last golden era of dance music around 2010 when many brands linked up with DJs and artists. Some of those collaborations included Deadmau5 and SONOS, Skrillex and Samsung, David Guetta with Coke Cola, Volvo and Avicii (rip) and probably the most influential was Swedish House Mafia’s partnership with Absolut Vodka and their sold-out Madison Square Garden shows and for some time, continued alignment with the brand.

While none of those really proved any staying power for the genre it did show there was commercial viability of dance music at the time. With this crossover we’re seeing now, maybe it’s a hint that dance music is once again hitting its stride?

The lesson is hopefully being learnt though, find a classic track and give it a subtle nudge into the clubs! Peggy Gou will play this year’s Falls Festival and Lost Paradise.

Peggy Gou has shared a remix of Kylie Minogue’s 2001 classic “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” The two also joined forces for a spin on the original music video, featuring Korean pop culture illustrations by Seo Inji, as part of a partnership with Magnum ice cream. Check it out below.

“Partnering with one of my musical icons to remix what is an undisputed club classic is a dream come true,” Gou said of Minogue in a statement. “From personal experience, ‘Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ is one of those songs that transports, moves, and uplifts people all over the world. Classics like this never go out of style, but I’ve loved being able to put my own personal stamp on such a legendary track.”

Gou’s most recent full-length release, her contribution to !K7’s beloved DJ-Kicks series, came out in 2019. Last year, she released the singles “Nabi” (featuring Oh Hyuk, the lead singer and guitarist of the South Korean rock band Hyukoh) and “I Go.”

Minogue released her 15th album, Disco, in 2020. She’s since collaborated with Dua Lipa, Jessie Ware, and more.
