What is it?

ion Color Brilliance Permanent Creme Hair Color has a palette of luxurious shades. The advanced ionic technology utilizes pure ionic micro pigments for deeper, more intense color deposit. ion Color Brilliance penetrates the cuticle layer of the hair and lodges in the cortex, ensuring 100% flawless gray coverage.  High Lift shades lift up to 5 levels and tones without bleach.

ion Hair Color’s superior quality, proprietary blends are formulated in Italy by our expert team of chemists to deliver unparalleled results. ion's unique system combines the finest quality natural and exotic ingredients with powerful high-tech compounds to achieve exquisite, brilliant color with superior gray coverage. ion Hair Color science relies on the power of micro-pigmentation— ion's microscopic pigment molecules oxidize slower, allowing them to penetrate deep into the cortex of each hair strand for long-lasting, fade-resistant color.

These formulas are PPD-free and enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Argan Oil, Pequi Oil, and botanicals to nourish and strengthen hair from within. Not to mention, ion Hair Color is gentle on hair, containing up to 38% less ammonia than the leading professional brands on the market. The correct choice of color and developer is essential for best results. The choice must be made bearing in mind the natural hair color, the desired degree of lightening and the percentage of gray hair. Remember tint won't lift tint. If the hair has previously been colored with permanent hair color then application of color corrector should first be done.

Using a non-metallic bowl, mix 2 oz. of ion(tm) Color Brilliance(tm) with 2 oz. of ion(tm) Sensitive Scalp(r) Creme Developer. Mixing ratio 1:1. Mixing ratio for High Lift shades is 1:2. Use a tint brush to apply the mixture to dry unwashed hair.

All instructions are based on average texture. If hair is fine or coarse adjustments should be made accordingly. See mixing instruction chart.

Preliminary Strand Test:

A strand test is always recommended prior to application, especially if the hair is porous or previously chemically treated with lighteners, permanent waves, chemical hair relaxers, or hair color. Apply a small amount of desired color to a few select strands. Process for 20-40 minutes depending on the level of color intensity desired, rinse and evaluate for accurate results.

Patch Test:

Prior to application, a preliminary patch test should be conducted. The following patch test must be made 48 hours prior to each application.

1. With soap and water, wash an area the size of a circle 1" diameter (2.54 cm) in the bend of the elbow or behind either ear, touching the hairline. Pat area dry with absorbent cotton.

2. Apply a small amount og color directly from tube to test area, using an absorbent cotton-tipped applicator.

3. Let test spot dry. Do not wash, cover, or disturb.

4. Leave on for 48 hours. Examine at 24 and 48 hours. If no reaction has occurred, you are ready to color. Do not use hair color if any of these danger signs appear: burning, itching, swelling, eruption, or irritation. If these signs appear in or around the test area, it indicates that the patron is hypersensitive and color must not be applied.

Can I use a 10 volume developer with permanent hair color?

Similar to 5 volume, 10 volume can be used with permanent color lines for depositing color, however, it will not offer much grey coverage or lift. If the hair is a finer fabric it could over a slight one level lighter shift in base color and grey blending.

What happens if I use 10 developer instead of 20?

But once again, the fact that 10 Vol developer does not penetrate deeply into the hair cuticle will penalise your end result. For more than 25% grey hair, we recommend 20 Vol rather than 10 Vol. You will be softening the cortex more and depositing color pigments deeper, not just coating the outside.

What developer do I use with ion permanent color?

Using a non-metallic bowl, mix 2 oz of ion™ Color Brilliance™ permanent brights with 2 oz ion™ Sensitive Scalp® Crème Developer 10 volume. Mixing ratio is 1:1.

When should you use a 10 volume developer?

Use 10 Volume if you are applying permanent, no-lift hair color. If the desired result is keeping color at the same color level by simply adding a tone or a tint, this is exactly what you should mix with. It won't significantly lift your base color and is the least damaging to the hair.
