Hi All,

I had my dating scan yesterday and Im 13+2, due in August with our rainbow baby, was very surreal seeing the little one bouncing around in there!

Since we have had the all clear so far I cannot steer my eyes away from baby clothes, is it too early to buy the odd bits? I dont mean like prams and cots and big things, just the odd babygrow, little hat etc?

What does/did everyone else do?

Buy what you want when you want

Is 13 weeks too early to buy baby things

I know loads of superstitious people who refuse to buy anything until very late, or just don't want to know. My own dad finds it so strange and funny that by 35 weeks we've bought everything up to 6 months, deocrated the nursery, know gender, and picked and told the name (he refuses to know what it is).

I bought our first outfit and a few wee things the day of our dating scan, and then just bought more as we've gone along. OH's dad bought us quite a bit of clothes and dropped them round about 28 weeks. We just bought when we could afford and it has really helped spread the cost.

I'm 6+2 and I've brought tommee tippee steriliser, perfect prep machine & pack of 6 TT bottles [emoji5]️

We've only brought early as we won't be able to afford to buy all last minute. And as there's baby events in shops you can't miss a bargain [emoji13] xx

I personally haven't bought anything but my mum has bought me a load of things like the bottle set I wanted as it was reduced and shes picked up some wee blankets for the pram and the crib. Shes also got me some first size vests and babygros to start me off (im not going to find out what im having so just a few neutral - once the baby is here then we will buy more that are pink or blue!)

It's not that it's bad luck to buy things, it's more that if anything happened you would have baby things around the house and might be hard to look at... but to be fair, you're never 100% out of the woods for something happening no matter how far gone you are. I say, if you want to buy yourself a few bits then there is no harm in it. It's an exciting time so it's perfectly understandable that you'd want to start baby shopping 😁

I'd like to add to that too that I actually boughy my changing bag before I was even pregnant! It was the only one I wanted. I'd had my heart set on it since DS was a baby. They released the design after he was born and I already had one. I was determined to have it this time around and they began selling it off to discontinue the design so I just got it!! lol

Hi Bonnie, I started buying straight after my 12 week scan! Im so glad I did because Im 30 weeks today and have everything! Feel very organised. Also spreads the cost out if you buy gradually. Enjoy. X

I started buying most things after the 12 week scan and now at 31 weeks I also have pretty much everything. Really just need a couple more bits for my hospital bag. I admit I did buy my changing bag straight after I found out so at about 4 weeks pregnant as it was in the sale. So glad I did as there is another sale on now but my bag is not in it.

I'm 13+5 weeks and I've bought quite a bit of stuff. I got the cot as its gorgeous and was a bargain. I got the Moses basket and other bits from aldi baby event last week. We bought a second hand baby chair bouncer again bargain. Got 4 baby grows and 6 vests. A hat, baby wardrobe as again bargain. If anything was to happen then I'd sell it all on eBay.
I'm not the sort of person to buy last minute. But I won't get the pram and car seat till later on as I'd like a new one.

I've bought a few bits of clothes in sale. Not got my 1st scan until 23rd Feb I'm either 10 or 14 weeks today  (surprise baby!) Bought a second hand cotbed and matching wardrobe as it was a bargain. It's completely your decision. Xx

I wouldn't buy things where you want the warranty to last the year like steam sterilisers, prep machines etc. Personally I wait until baby is viable but I did pick up the odd bargain before then like baby bouncer and play mat both reduced from over £40 to under £15

We are also buying for further along but until 1 years old I find it strange but I think it'll be helpful and I'm only 14 weeks lol x
