Is 20 or 35 tint better?

1) What’s the significant difference between 20% & 35%. From the properties listed above, it appears that the only real one is VLT. Now what would be the pros / cons of that glare considering that it can be both super sunny & dark cloudy in Sydney ?

From my experience, massive difference between the two.

the heat from direct sun on the skin through both tints have a difference as well. much more pleasant with the 20% overall.

2) If I put 20% on rear windshield, will I be able to see through the rear mirror while driving in night ?

If there's enough street lights, sure. It is significantly darker though at night time. Cars with headlights on, no problem. When parking and reversing is where it gets challenging if you're not used to dark tints.

3) Assuming I need to put 35% on rear windshield and front windows, would it be appropriate from a looks perspective i.e. front window light, rear window dark, rear windshield light.

Nah, doesn't look right to me, I like my tint uniform.

35% vs 20% Tint

I'm going through the great debate in my head. I have a 2013 white G Sedan. Black interior. I live in Illinois. The tint laws basically suck. Any opinions? Pictures would be helpful too. This is my first post. Sorry if this has already been talked about.

20% Ceramic. You'll thank us all later. I'm not allowed any on my front windows, I've gotten lucky and haven't been bothered (this might have something to do with the fact I don't drive like an *******). Depends on your goals and your eyes, but I tinted mine to 35% and I liked it...until I tinted another car with the 20%. If I ever get a tint ticket, I'm taking my 35% off and going with a F1 Pinnacle 15%.

It's really a big tradeoff and unfortunately there is no middle ground between those options. I have 35% all around with a tan interior and it seems too light (also the blueness of the stock glass is noticeable), but then you have to realize that this is darkest that will not significantly hinder visibility at night. My friend has 20% all around. While it looks much better, it is very difficult to see in the dark without your surroundings being lit well. If I was only ever going to drive during the daytime, sure 20% would be great. With a black interior, the tint will appear darker from the outside though.

Types of Films: Dyed < Metalized < Ceramic

I have 20% all around with black interior. It looks very dark from the outside at night, but perfect during the day. I personally think having two tones of tint looks weird. California law doesn't allow any tint on the front two windows. It's so common here that cops don't really ticket you for it.

Metalized films can cause interference with radio, GPS, TPMS sensors, and cell phones. I'd rather have a quality dyed film over a metalized film.

Yeah the place in getting mine done at only has 35 or 20. 30 would be perfect for me for sure. I want my privacy, but just don't need any unnecessary tickets as I spend about 2 hours in the car each day.

I'm allowed like 27% in SC.

I think 32% would give me 27% after accounting for the factory tint.

Not sure I'll be able to hit 27%, but I can surely get below 35% as a finished product.

In fact, it's about time to tint. I didn't want to tint during the cold. Not sure what would happen to the liquid when it drops to 18 degrees (many have said it's no big deal). I'm sure we're past those temperatures down here. I don't expect to see it dip much below 40 at night anymore this season.

So my goal now is to tint by the end of the month.

IL has 35%. Go with 35%. It's not worth skirting the law.

I have my appointment scheduled for the 21st. Just can't make my mind up what so ever. I wish I could just say screw it and go dark.

Yeah, tinting in the cold isn't an issue, and most places have warranties anyways. What's not fun is not being allowed to roll down your windows for a week in hot weather. It's better to do it when it's colder and you dont want/need to roll down your window.

Anything besides OEM exhaust is illegal in IL as well... what a boring state.

If you go downtown often then I would say stick with 35% as they ticket people often. If you don't I think you can get away with 20%.

When I go into the city I park in a garage. However, I just don't wana deal with that hassle. Why do Illinois laws suck so much.

What's the difference between 35% and 20% tint?

What is the difference between 20% and 35% window tint? Window tint percentage refers to the amount of visible light that gets into the car. A 20% window tint has a more reflective surface, allowing less visible light than a 35% window tint.

What percent tint looks best?

50% tinting: This is the best tint percentage of all. However, this percentage does not create a darker effect inside your vehicle, nor does it completely block the UV rays. Nevertheless, it is an excellent source of blocking a large portion of the UV rays coming directly from the sun.

Is 35 or 50 tint darker?

Because less light can get through, the window tint with 35% VLT will look darker than the 50% VLT. If you want to upgrade your ride with dark, sleek windows, make sure you choose a low VLT percentage.

What tint is the darkest?

The combination of the 77% transmission window and 43% transmission film results in a darkest legal tint of 35%.
