A contract agreement for a welterweight unification fight featuring Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford is reportedly "nearing completion."

Boxing insider Dan Rafael reported Monday the bout is "penciled in" for either Nov. 12 or Nov. 19 and will "likely" take place in Las Vegas if the details are finalized.

A battle between the undefeated champions would have Fight of the Year potential.

Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) is coming off a victory over Yordenis Ugas in April to capture the WBA Super welterweight belt. He already owned the WBC and IBF titles in the division.

Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) hasn't fought since November when he defeated Shawn Porter to retain the WBC welterweight championship.

In July, Spence expressed confidence a long-awaited deal would get done.

"I think it's gonna happen," the 32-year-old New York native told reporters. "He wants the fight. I want the fight. It's going down to negotiations. It's definitely gonna go down this year."

Those comments came after Crawford told ESPN's Mike Coppinger in April he was ready to crown an undisputed welterweight champion.

"I'm free to do whatever I want," the 34-year-old southpaw said. "There's nothing standing in the way from us fighting. There's no promotion company that's blocking it, there's no wrong side of the street, there's no nothing. Let's see who the best welterweight in the world is."

Not talking about PPV buys or gate or whatever, just as a pure fight between greats with massive stakes & a chance to be a legit all-time classic: If #SpenceCrawford get done it's easily one of the best fights on paper in my 22+ years covering #boxing.

It's unclear what's still being negotiated between the sides, but the most common sticking point in these types of high-profile discussions is the percentage each fighter will receive from the guaranteed purse split.

One thing's for sure: It would be a loss for boxing if the talks ultimately fall through. A clash between Spence and Crawford is essential while they're still at the peak of their powers.

The Errol Spence Jr.-Terence Crawford undisputed welterweight championship fight is in jeopardy because of a lingering dispute regarding the contract, sources told ESPN.

If the pay-per-view fight set for Las Vegas is finalized, it won't take place on the targeted date of Nov. 19 but rather in December or even January, sources said.

Spence and Crawford had agreed to terms, with Crawford set to earn the short end of the financial split, ESPN reported earlier this month. The issue: Crawford wants transparency related to event expenses since the contract contains no guaranteed purse, sources said.

Since Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) will earn a percentage of the net revenue, he wants the ability to approve expenses, sources said. Crawford is a promotional free agent after parting ways with Top Rank, but sources said the proposed deal includes a bilateral rematch clause.

If the rematch clause is triggered, the winner will earn the majority of the revenue for the return bout, sources said. But if talks for the first bout continue to drag out, it's conceivable that Crawford, 35, will want another fight before facing Spence.

The 147-pound meeting for all four belts is one of the biggest fights in boxing. Crawford, ESPN's No. 1 pound-for-pound boxer and top welterweight, last fought in November, a 10th-round TKO victory over Shawn Porter to retain his WBO title.

Spence, a 32-year-old from Desoto, Texas, who is aligned with Al Haymon's PBC, returned from surgery to repair a detached retina to score a 10th-round TKO of Yordenis Ugas in April to add the WBA belt to go along with his WBC and WBA titles. Spence (28-0, 22 KOs) was set to fight Manny Pacquiao in August 2021 but withdrew from the matchup because of the eye injury.

It was the second major setback of Spence's career after an October 2019 car crash led to him being hospitalized. He did not fight again until December 2020.

Is Errol Spence and Terence Crawford scheduled to fight?

While 2022 may be remembered as one of boxing's greatest years in decades in terms of the quality fights that were put on, it got better on Thursday when unbeaten welterweight champions Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford agreed to terms for a unification bout on Nov. 19 in Las Vegas. ESPN first reported the news.

Who is better Errol Spence vs Terence Crawford?

Spence is bigger, perhaps stronger, and owns the better jab. He's a natural 147-pounder who competed at 152 pounds in the Olympics. Crawford, meanwhile, won his first title fighting at 135 pounds but has filled out nicely at 147 and possesses uncanny strength for the division.

Where is Errol Spence and Terence Crawford fighting at?

Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford have agreed to all material terms for a fight for the undisputed welterweight championship, an event targeted for Nov. 19 in Las Vegas, multiple sources tell ESPN. The package includes a bilateral rematch clause that the loser will have the right to exercise, per source.
