Is the iPhone 14 Pro too heavy?

I did end up returning mine, agreed re the island, many are realising its worse than the notch. However my main reason was the ridiculous weight, felt too dense and heavy in my hand, and cause me lots of pain just to hold for a few minutes, those massive camera lens also made it feel worse to hold, just poor ergonomics overall.

if u return it, upgrade the battery of ur iPhone 12 Pro (if below 80% performance) and thank me later! that's what I did after I returned the 14 pro, and my 11 pro is back to its former glory, so smooth like a new phone.

iPhone X is only 174 grams. That is more than 18% heavier.

iPhone 14: 172 grams
iPhone 14 Pro: 206 grams

iPhone 14 is lighter than iPhone X.

I prefer light and thin. I guess I'm from the Jony Ive era

My bad! I meant pro model. I just changed the title!

Yes.

Going from X to 12 Pro the 12P already felt too heavy for me. (187 g) But it was a combination of size and weight.
So i ended up returning it and i'm currently using a 13 Mini (140g)

But now that i know that the Mini seems to be dying, i'm starting to wonder if i should just try to get used to the heavier devices... seems to be the only way i'll get to enjoy the newest features. ughh.

I hear you. When I moved on from my iPhone X that aspect really bummed me out.

I used the 12 for a year, and my wife has the 13, both of those do have a nice thin and light feel to them (as does the 14 it seems).

I currently use the 13 Pro, and while it's heavy, you do get used to it. At first when you have a few of the devices around, and keep comparing them, the Pro felt too heavy to me. But if you just pick one and stick to it, you do get used to it.

I'm pretty disappointed the titanium iPhone pro didn't happen this year. That was the only way I was going to upgrade from the 13pro. Why apple wont get rid of the stainless steel makes no sense. The weight of the pros has gotten ridiculous. There is no reason 14pro should weigh more than the 14 plus just to say you have a stainless steel band. I really don't care if they switch to titanium or just use the same aluminum as the regular model and call it pro aluminum. If they would have put promotion on the regular 14 I would have just upgraded to that.

I think I might bounce from a 13 pro to a 14, mostly because of the weight.

Dynamic island is cool and the camera looks nice, but who uses the camera to its full potential? It looks like the camera is even bulkier on the 14 pro.

Wow I thought I was the only one. Glad I didn't get any "hit the gym bro" jokes. I actually have the 11 Pro Max but downgraded to an iPhone X. Got it from Best Buy, 256 and unlocked. Space gray color. Love it lol. Battery life is atrocious but it's saying I need to replace it bc it's only at 75% capacity. Camera isn't as good as 11 Pro Max, but it's fine...

When I pick up my wife’s iPhone 8 (148g) it is noticeably lighter than my iPhone 11 (194g). For me to move to the 14 Pro wouldn’t be much change. I do think it’s something you could get used to if the added features are worth it to you. Tough call.

We don't KNOW that the mini is going away...just that there is no 14 mini. I've heard the theory that they might alternate the alternate sizes each year: 13 mini, 14 max, 15 mini, 16 max...so each alternate size has an update every two years. It's just a theory, or let's call it what it is, a desperate hope, lol.

That aside, if you do believe that the mini is done for good, then, yeah, you'll have to get used to the larger and heavier eventually. Last year, when I was preparing to upgrade from my SE 2020, I was debating between the 13 mini and the 13 pro, and I decided to test it. I had a really heavy coin that was almost exactly the difference between the weight of my SE 2020 and the pro. So I taped the coin to the back of my phone case, and so I kinda had the opportunity to try the weight of the pro for a while. It wasn't perfect: the weight distribution was different of course. But it did give me some opportunity to sort of try it out.

Yes. The iPhone 13 Pro is already too heavy. It’s very noticeable when resting on my pinky one-handed.

  • #14

agree totally. The 13 and 14 pro max is horrid in the hand. I owned one and not fun at all. BUT I am sorely tempted with the 14 or 14 plus. The weight of the 14 plus is the same almost as the 14 pro except its bigger so should feel lighter due to size ( if that makes sense ) OR I go for the 14 standard. I have a 13 mini at moment and the battery life is hmmmm not great

Plus the 14 plus looks like such a GOOD LOOKING phone In my opinion. Midnight for me like my mini. October 7th though!!!! :-(

I think it's too heavy. I would like a max of about 175g - but would prefer 150-160g instead if possible.

  • #17

Agreed. I had a XR that i hated because of the weight, I’ve ordered the 14 pro and kind of dreading how I’m going to find it as it’s even heavier.

have a regular 12 atm and the weight of that is perfect.

Is iPhone 14 Pro Max too heavy?

Yes, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is still a very tall and very heavy smartphone. For some people, it'll always be just too big to comfortably use. But, I'm personally at a point where I'm used to its weight and have found ways to maneuver it with one hand.

How heavy is iPhone 14 Pro?

iPhone 14 vs iPhone 14 Pro: Design.

Is 14 pro heavy?

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max has a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display and weighs a hefty 240 grams with all the glass and the stainless steel frame. At least it is well-balanced and not too top-heavy, so it still feels good in the hands.

Will the iPhone 14 be lighter in weight?

The standard iPhone 14 weighs 1.2 ounces lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro, a weight difference you can actually notice when holding the phone in one hand. Similarly, the iPhone 14 Plus weighs 1.3 ounces less than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, an even more palpable difference. The iPhone 14 Plus is a really big phone.
