JBL Xtreme 3 vs boombox 2 Reddit

I'm gonna be on the go alot since I'm in college, and I have a commute from there to my job, (which is pretty active in itself) so I'm debating which is best. I love the fact that the xtreme 3 is ultraportable, but how good does it sound from experience? And for the Boombox, I love the sound and the extra bass, but how portable is it, from experience? Sorry for the essay

Either way, the Boombox 2 sounds much better than the third version, but consider its price and size. If the JBL 3 can easily fit in a backpack, this won't be the case with the Boombox 2. Don't listen to those who shout that the volume of the 3 version isn't enough - it's loud enough, even in large areas.

In summary, if you are not tight on money and care about sound quality and volume, regardless of the speaker's size, Boombox 2 is your choice.If you're willing to accept that the volume will be a little lower as well as the sound quality (not that you'll notice), but the price is lower too. Get the JBL 3.In the second case, I'd still recommend looking at Treblab HD-Max because it's practically a jbl 3, but much cheaper ($200 vs $350) and with a stronger battery (+autonomy). The choice is up to you.

Boombox 2 is leagues better, but I used both a boombox 1 and XTREME 3 indoors and they’re not that good unless you place them by the wall on the floor, otherwise the bass is crap. Apparently the Sony xb43 sounds similar to XTREME 3 but with less aggressive treble, but it also has the worst battery, though my XTREME 3 doesn’t last the advertised 15 hours at all.

Im not sure about this. The Ex 3 has 1x100w output and the Boombox somehow only 2x40?

I just got the boombox, but if two extreme 3 are better then I'd consider selling it...

Any expirience/advice?

The Boombox is much better than any of the Extreme models. The only issue is it's size.

The W King X10 costs less than $100 and sounds better and is also louder than any of the Extreme models as well. Also has the largest battery of any portable speaker. Watch Alan Ross review if you don't believe me.

boombox 2 is louder, offers more bass etc. 1*100w output for the Extreme 3? I don't think so. It's softer than 100$ Soundcore speakers.

I will mirror what others have said...You made the right call! I love the original boombox, In fact, I have three. I also have 2 extreme 2's, and the boombox is punchier and goes lower than any extreme.

Refurbished at $280 is a steal!!

I missed it, but not long ago, I did hear the original Boombox was on sale for like $300 on Amazon ( I think it was prime day and it was limited to a time stamp). Those who scored a brand new boombox, got a killer deal at that price.

BTW, all of mine are also refurbished, and they look brand new. I'm ready to dive into them to replace the battery's when the time comes. The one thing I will give the extremes, the battery's are so easy to replace!

Buy the Boombox 2 now for the cheaper price or wait for the Boombox 3 whenever it drops. Kinda need it for upcoming vacations and not sure if that July 15th release I’ve seen around for the 3 is legit.

Edit: I know this is a JBL sub but after having the JBL Boombox 2 and recently picking up a Tribit Stormbox Blast, the Blast is 95% of the sound (honestly I think over all it sounds better) for around 40% of the money. Even if the Boombox 3 has better bass, I think for the price the Tribit can’t be beat.

Currently using JBL flip 5, looking for a portable, louder and stereo Bluetooth speaker.

For the price? I don’t think so, the charge 5 or 2 flips get just as loud and in my opinion have better bass. Only buy the XTREME if loud listening is a priority, the charge and flip both sound better at lower volumes because the XTREME 3 lacks bass below 30% and starts limiting it around 70. 40-60% volume is your best bet, and that can get loud especially indoors

I was thinking about get another flip 5, but a louder speaker the is best choice because I work in a very noisy place, what about two charge 5? Would you think that will be a better option than the xtreme 3?

I have one and I love it. It's loud enough and tuned right hits for the size drivers it has. I also use an eq app and i adore my Xtreme 3. But I also have boombox's and partybox's all sound amazing when tuned via my eq app. Plus hiking with Xtreme3 bumps when strapped around your neck and speaker is near belly. Clean sound. Closer to a Sony xb43 or whatever....but with way more bass.
