Campsites and lodging are available year-round at both North and South Shores. RV full hookup sites are provided at South Shore only. Self-contained RVs may camp at North Shore. Many sites offer immediate lake access while others are just a short walk away. Ask your reservation agent or check the online maps for which sites provide shade. Campsite amenities include barbecues, tables, water, restrooms, hot showers, and laundry facilities.

What is the difference between North Shore and South Shore? North Shore offers a year-round cafe, Memorial Day-Labor Day ice cream parlor, and primitive style on-shore camping. South Shore offers a stocked trout pond, Memorial Day-Labor Day snack shop, and summer movies at the amphitheater.

South Shore Campgrounds

The South Shore of Lake Camanche features an array of nearly a dozen different campgrounds all within a short distance of one another. Each has slightly different amenities.

  • Coyote Flat Campground: - 23 single sites and 4 double sties. Many are shoreline sites, a favorite spot for tent campers, spacious sites. Portable toilets.
  • Riverview Campground: - 26 single and 1 double campsites on rolling terrain with mature oaks. Includes 10 sites on the shoreline. Restrooms with free showers. A family-friendly, alcohol-free campground.
  • Oaks Campground: - 28 single sites, 1 double, and 2 triples, a short distance from the lake. A family-friendly, alcohol-free campground.
  • Arrowhead Campground: - 27 single sites and 3 double. Centrally located, close to beach.
  • Cottonwood Campground: - 21 single sites and 4 double. Centrally located, restrooms with showers.
  • Gold Run Campground: - Can serve as group sites for group up to 80 and 88 or as a mix of single and double sites. Centrally located.
  • Moccasin Campground: - 32 camper sites, 15 singles, 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 quad. Nice views of the lake, restrooms with free showers, close to major facilities.
  • Sugarloaf Campground: - 30 single sites, 2 doubles, and a group site for up to 64 people. Good lake views, but little privacy between sites. Restrooms with free showers, close to swimming.
  • Monument RV Campground: - 93 sites with full hook-ups, some lakeside sites
  • Miner's Camp RV Park: - Located on a hillside apart from the other campgrounds, available for long term stays.

Mother Lode Lakes Attractions and Activities

All of the Mother Lode lakes are popular destinations for boaters and anglers. Campgrounds are usually designed around to facilitate those activities. Those who choose Lake Camanche's South Shore Campgrounds have many nice amenities close to them.

  • Camanche Lake is known for great boating and fishing along with outstanding campground facilities. Some campgrounds are alcohol-free.
  • Folsom Lake is a favorite for boaters, waterskiers, wakeboarders, and jet ski enthusiasts.
  • New Hogan Reservoir has a pretty setting among the hills for fishing and boating. Nice campsites overlook the lake.
  • Horseback ride along miles of Folsom Lake trails. Find an equestrian Staging Area at Granite Bay with hitching rails and water trough; also find staging areas at Rattlesnake Bar, Brown's Ravine, Falcon Crest, and Sterling Pointe.
  • Enjoy 95 miles of trails for bicyclists, runners, horseback riders, and hikers.
  • Stroll along the Oaks Nature Trails at Folsom Lake.
  • Cycle on the paved bike trail connecting Beals Point to the American River Hike & Bike Trail.
  • Visit the Sacramento State Aquatic Center at Lake Natoma.

General Camping Information

Opening and closing dates of campgrounds are only estimates, usually dependent on weather conditions. Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.

In order to prevent the spread of invasive insects, purchase firewood locally.

Accessible Sites

Designated Accessible sites are usually reserved for people with disabilities who have a vehicle displaying an accessible parking placard or license plate.

Does Lake Camanche have full hookups?

All sites are full hookups featuring 30-50 amp electrical service, picnic tables, and can accommodate up to 55′ long.

Can you have a campfire at Lake Camanche?

Campfires are NOT allowed at any of the units. Tents and/or Recreational vehicles may not be utilized for accommodations. Recreational vehicles must be parked in designated areas only, not by the lodging units. The kitchen must be left clean.

Are jet skis allowed on Lake Camanche?

Welcome to the North Shore and South Shore Recreation Areas at Camanche Reservoir in the Sierra Foothills. You'll find access to 12 square miles of lake and 53 miles of shoreline. Popular activities include fishing, swimming, waterskiing, jet skiing, and windsurfing.

Is there cell service at Lake Camanche?

We camp at the "trout pond" and yes, we have cell service through Verizon.
