So I recently burnt through all 7 books of Legend of the Arch Magus by Michael Sisa. Goodreads. Amazon.

Legend of the Arch Magus, book 7 audiobook

This is a young adult fantasy series where a legendary Arch Magus finds himself reincarnated into the body of the son of a duke. 16 years old and in charge of an starving and forgotten little village. It's not another realm, it's a time travel novel. It's been over a thousand years since the Arch Magus previously died, and he finds out that the present day knowledge of both magic and other invention has been largely forgotten. And while this new body of his isn't as well trained or have the same resources of mana, he finds himself with quite the advantage over everyone else.

I have a hard time defining this book, and thus have a hard time finding anything else to read because I desperately need more. Which is the main reason I'm here: Have you read it, and can give me recommendations to something else, I'll gladly take it.

It feels a little like a portal novel, but it's the same realm so I'm not sure if it can be defined as one. It's a time travel novel, but it's not really about time travel. So just where the heck am I supposed to find something more to read??

In the litrpg genre, which I'm a lot more familiar with than portal, there is a common trope of "OP MC": aka overpowered main characters. And this book definitely has that, but what I'm enjoying more isn't that he's stronger than everyone else. But that he's smarter. He has forgotten knowledge and knows how to implement it and I love it! There is no word for over-knowledged tho, there is no trope for me to easily google.

It's a charming little story, the Arch Magus, upon his death went down in history as the most powerful mage of all time. And his students, his disciples, all went on to become grand characters in history. There are things that might annoy you in the story, despite the fact that he has an answer to everything and is essentially unbeatable, he can be very condescending. He's in charge of a village, and thus a bunch of people, and he spends a lot of his time giving out orders to people. And to the present day villagers, these orders doesn't make much sense. Everything is unbelievable or impossible. And every time they try to question him, he simply goes "You don't need to know, simply do it". If this only happened once or twice, okay. Sadly, it probably happened 3 to 5 times each book which can be annoying.

All the arch magus wants to do, is focus on his new village. He has grand plans on expanding it and making it prosperous. However the rest of the world doesn't seem to want to let him be. First there is a cursed and dying King who starts a competition where every son of a duke is eligible to become the crown prince (since the dying king only has daughters), thus sparking a lot of rivalry and some assassinations. Then there is multiple wars brewing on the horizon.
