Updated Travel Requirements

The United States has instituted new travel rules requiring a negative COVID-19 test result to reenter the US via its international airports. If you are flying back from Mexico to a US airport, you must present evidence of a negative COVID-19 to pass through US Customs. A negative COVID-19 test is not required to cross back into the US at land (pedestrian) border crossings with Mexico. (Source)

Baja California (Tijuana, Ensenada, Valle de Guadalupe)

Negative COVID-19 test results are not required to cross back into the US at Tijuana/San Diego border. If you are going to one of CTH’s outings in Baja California, there's no need to take a test.

Mexico City

Mexico City’s airport now has rapid COVID-19 testing in Terminal 1 for a small fee. We suggest arriving a few hours early to make sure you can get your test results in time for your flight. If you are flying out of Terminal 2, you can get dropped off at Terminal 1 to get your test, then take the airport’s shuttle train to Terminal 2. You can also get tested at clinics across Mexico City. You can find a list of testing sites under the ‘Testing availability in Mexico’ section of the US Embassy + Consulate in Mexico website.

Oaxaca

Also, we can update the COVID 19 page with this new info for Oaxaca: Many major hotels in Oaxaca are facilitating their guests’ needs to receive rapid COVID-19 testing before flying home. Tests can also be done at Laboratorios Galindo at their Centro location.

Before the outing

CTH’s Hosts and Vendor Health
In addition to the well-being of our guests, the health of our hosts and vendors is of the utmost important to us. We require hosts to mention if they have been exposed or have symptoms before every outing. We are also in constant communication with our vendors to make sure they are able to provide a safe and healthy space for guests.

Reschedules due exposure, symptoms, or ill
If you've been experiencing symptoms, have been exposed, feel sick, or are caring for someone with COVID-19, please email us to reschedule your outing. Take a look at our Terms and Conditions and our rescheduling policy due to illness here.

During the outing

We will forgo handshakes and other type of physical salutations for the moment. Whenever possible, hosts will maintain a physical distance and provide a safe and healthy outing for our guests.

Our vendors and CTH friends
We make sure that each place we visit adheres to health and safety regulations

Transportation (Baja California)
Our trusted transportation partners thoroughly sanitize vehicles before guests board. Drivers are equipped with face masks and hand sanitizing gel.

Face masks/coverings

Mexico City: Mexico's mask policy can change depending on the assessment of public health authorities. The city recently said that masks aren't necessary outdoors. However, as Mexico City residents still feel very strongly about wearing masks, this recent decision could take time to be widely accepted.

As we can enter indoor establishments and be around our friends at the food establishments we visit who feel more comfortable if we are wearing masks, please bring them to have them at the ready. Your host will inform you when you might need to put it on to be respectful towards the community and our friends who we collaborate with.

Baja California + Oaxaca: Wearing face masks is appreciated + required (except when eating).

Hand washing and hand sanitizing gel
Hosts are equipped with hand sanitizer and will make stops to handwashing stations when available
