Hey gang first time poster here. I recently picked up a mk5 gti golf, and I'd really like to take it to a track. Show Im very lucky to have 4 race tracks within a 2.5 hour drive. The car has some cheap chinese tyres on it that are pretty garbage, they have about half life left in them. Im going to replace them and the ps4's are on sale at the moment, so i was thinking of jumping on them and putting them in the garage to replace when these are done. Would these be suitable to a track noob? I don't want to "over tyre" the car, but i still want quality underneath me. I have done a bit of reading about tyres for noobs and the consensus is to drive what's on there and don't turn up with semi's. Plan is, go to first track day with high temp brake fluid (has new enough pads and disks) and drive the piss out of it, and use up the junk tyres that came with the car. Wear them out, put on my ps4's and go again.
