As mentioned, you play as a new hire, and you are tasked by your manager to put things on shelves to tidy up the store. You are to finish your work before the supermarket closes. Fail to do so in time, and you will be fired. It sounds easy — but for the customers. As you do your job, NPCs will wander and lurk about the shop. Most of them, however, will be
jumping up and down to get your attention. Mostly, they will want to be led to a specific aisle. There will be times when you will have to find and retrieve an accurately hideous baby. This constant interruption will stop you from completing your task. However, this is not an actual horror game but because of its cartoony horror tone, it feels like one. Additionally, there is the scene of The Manager chasing you down
through a suddenly darkened shop floor if you fail to do your task on time. Also adding to the creepy atmosphere is the eerie way the customers screech "excuse me" to get your attention. All in all, Night of the Consumers provides a unique take on the supermarket simulation. The gameplay is not that difficult per se, as it is as simple as restocking shelves. The difficulty—and the frustration—lies in the constant
interruption from the customers. Their creepy approach also makes the atmosphere eerie. You will find that the customers' attitude does not really depict customers in real life. CONS
