When making a payment online or by telephone, you will need the eight-digit Tax Account number for the account you're paying. The Tax Account number can be found on the billing statement (located top right corner), through the Tax Portal or by calling 703-792-6710 (M,T,Th,F from 8AM - 5PM or W from 9AM - 5PM ).

Tax payments can be made online using American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover Card.

All online credit and debit card payments are subject to a service fee. The fee is based on the amount of the transaction. The service fee is paid directly to the company processing the card payment. No part of this fee goes to the County. Prior to authorizing payment, you will have the opportunity to review the fee amount and to decide whether to accept the fee or to cancel the transaction.

Follow These Steps to Pay by Telephone:

  • Have pen, paper and tax bill ready before calling.

  • Dial 1-888-2PAY TAX (1-888-272-9829) using a touch tone telephone.

  • When prompted, enter Jurisdiction Code 1036 for Prince William County.

  • Press 1 for Personal Property Tax.

  • Press 2 for Real Estate Tax.

  • Enter the Tax Account numbers listed on the billing statement.

PAY BY MAIL

Please make your check or money order payable to "Prince William County".

For prompt processing, tax payments should be mailed with the tear off remittance slip placed in the return envelope that came with the tax bill.

A single check may be used to pay multiple bills. When paying multiple bills, please include with the payment the tear off remittance slips of each bill.

The directions on most tax bills direct you to return payment to PO Box 70519, PHILADELPHIA, PA  19176-0519. This address is a mail collection point for remittance processing. The County uses a remittance processor to ensure that transactions are accurately captured and posted.

PAY IN PERSON AT A COUNTY LOCATION

Make a payment at one of three Taxpayer Services locations - Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri from 8 AM to 5 PM, and on Wed from 9 AM to 5 PM, excluding County Holidays. Payments options include cash, money order, check, pin-debit card, and starting December 1, 2021, we will be accepting all credit card payments with a convenience fee of 2.5%.

Drop Box 24-hour

Make a payment 24-hours a day seven days a week at a depository box located near the main entrance of any Taxpayer Services location. Drop off payment options include check and money order. Checks are to be made payable to: "Prince William County" or "PWC". To ensure payment is properly processed, please enclose your bill stub, account number, or other description of the bill to which payment is to be credited. Drop-off payments on your schedule without the hassle of standing in line. Easy. Simple. Secure.
