I think you can inspect it as a point of interest. I tried getting the ring off of it without killing it on my second playthrough, but you choices are kill it or leave it alone. Show The only thing about killing it is it gives you bad honor for some reason. I checked the area for signs of a wedding ... like maybe it was sort of a family pet and they were using it as a ring-bearer but it ran away, but I didn't see anything in the area. It wasn't particularly skittish around Arthur and several times I was able to just walk up to it, but there were no prompts to take the ring. I lassoed it, but it only gave me the kill prompt. Something about it made me think it was part of some more tragic lore in the area, but again, I didn't see anything else to explain it being out there.
