The Latin from Manhattan where to watch

I'd compare The Latin from Manhattan to more of a lower-tier Boogie Nights (1997) or HBO's The Deuce (2017-2019) - a well-produced ensemble period piece (based on a true story), with mediocre (Drea De Matteo) to solid performances (Esai Morales, Taryn Manning) from a semi-notable cast. Impressed by Vivian Lamolli (great voice).

Aside from shining a light on the NYC porn industry of the 1970s/80s, the film offers brief glimpses into the AIDS epidemic and the early days of hip hop.

Plays pulpy and glitzy drama, moving at a moderate pace but lacking any real raising of the stakes (more expository / character-driven). I'd call it successful though, in gripping the viewer's attention through a variety of comedic beats from Manning, and aside from the frequent nudity (no real sex scenes), it offers compelling on/off-screen narration from Lamolli, which help to keep the story flowing.

Follows the wild, exhilarating life of legendary adult film icon Vanessa Del Rio, set against the backdrop of organized crime-controlled Times Square during the 70s and 80s.The Latin from Manhattan featuring Taryn Manning and Drea de Matteo is not currently available to stream, rent, or buy but you can add it to your want to see list for updates. It's a drama movie.
