What does Prince Prospero do as a result of the disease? What does this show the reader about how he feels towards his people? The Prince throws a party in his abbey and invites 1000 people to the party. He will lock the guests in because of the disease; he is afraid of the "Red Death." He doesn't care about his people; he's selfish. What does Prince Prospero do after the last guest enters his abbey? What does this mean for anyone outside/inside? He locks himself and everyone in. No one can enter or leave. After some time has passed (roughly five to six months), Prince Prospero decides to have a masquerade ball. Where does the masquerade ball take place within the abbey? In seven color coded rooms. The blue room is all blue, etc. Which room is decorated differently from the rest? How? What is that room like? The seventh room is black with a red window, which makes the people look like they have the "Red Death". No one goes in that room bc they're scared of it. This tells us that the people know they aren't safe from the "Red Death"; they are still afraid. What are the guests' reactions to the chiming of the clock? They stop everything and listen. When the clock chimes at midnight, some of the guests notice someone whom no one has seen before. Describe the masked "intruder." He brings an aura of terror, horror, and disgust; the guests are scared of him and dislike him. He out Heroded-Herod; he was tall and gaunt, and was draped head to toe in the garments of the grave with blood on it. His mask looked like the face of a corpse. He looks like the "Red Death." How does the Prince react seeing this guest as he was "stalking" back and forth amongst the crowd? At first he is terrified and disgusted, but then he is angry. He wants him unmasked so that everyone will know who he is. He tells the guests to arrest him; no one will touch him. As Prince Prospero is following this guest throughout the suites, what does he take out? He takes out a dagger. What happens to the Prince after pursuing this intruder? He catches up to the "Red Death," but when he turns around, Prince Prospero drops the dagger all of a sudden, and dies. What/Who is revealed to be the masked guest? The Red Death is revealed to be the masked guest. What happens to everyone inside the Prince's abbey? Everyone dies because of the Red Death.
