Apr 9, 2019 I have a 2009 Enclave that now has the keys stuck in the ignition and won't turn past the ACC position and so cannot be removed. I can start it fine, the battery has lots of juice. I've had to disconnected to positive terminal at the fuse box under the hood. Also, the rear lights (brake, running, signal) are not working. Thanks in advance, Mike Joined

Who installed the BCM? Is it in warranty? Have you has any water leaks? Joined Apr 9, 2019 · 4 Posts

My 2011 Enclave is doing the same thing off and on, haven’t replaced the ignition switch housing yet. Just remove the top plastic steering column cover and you can reach in and press the plunger on the right side of the column when sitting in the car (see plunger shown in picture) and it will let you turn from ACC to OFF then remove key.

The key-in lock is not being deactivated. This can be caused by several things, such as it doesn't think you have put the vehicle in Park even though you have. The problem is in order to correctly diagnose this issue, you have to be able to know what prevents the key-in lock from being deactivated and then read those values to see what the body computer (BCM)
is seeing. Was the BCM replaced for THIS issue and if so, who diagnosed it. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with this vehicle as I was with Land Rover for the last 20 plus years prior to retiring. Your other issues sound like a Can Bus problem and may or may not be related to the key issue. Unless you can come up with a scanner to read real time values it's all guess work. What I would do in the meantime until it is repaired correctly is open the power OR ground circuit to the key-in lock which
will prevent it from activating. Keep in mind that the key can then be removed at anytime including while you're driving down the road. These type of safe guards came about because some people should not be driving vehicles and the lawyers get involved. Sorry I could not be of more help and good luck. What do I do if my key is stuck on the ACC?If your ignition switch is stuck in the accessory position and will not shut off the power to the car, you can put graphite into the tumbler to help with the key; although this will damage the tumbler, you will be able to shut off the power to the vehicle.
Why is my Toyota not letting me turn the key?Common reasons the ignition key won't turn include attempting to use a key for a different vehicle, or a locked steering wheel. You can unlock the steering wheel by turning the steering wheel from side to side while simultaneously turning the ignition key on.
Why won't my ignition let me turn the key?If your car key isn't turning in the ignition, first check to make sure your vehicle is in park. If it is, check the key for damage. If the key is warped, worn, or cracked, it may not work correctly. For a worn key, try pulling the key back slightly as you turn it or gently wiggling it back and forth in the ignition.
