Vets best flea and tick spray reviews

Our dog got fleas in spite of monthly fleas prevention treatment. I wasn’t precise about the monthly prevention though like I should have been. I figured I could give it to her every 4-6 weeks and she’d be ok. Now I realize I needed to be as diligent with that as I am with the birth control pill. Luckily I came across the Vets Best product once my dog got fleas. It works great but you still need to be anal about how you use it. We eradicated our dog and ourselves of fleas after two weeks using the following method. I discovered our dog had fleas on a Tuesday evening, Day 0. I had been itching like crazy though a week or two prior to this but didn’t connect the dots it was due to fleas until I saw the fleas flying off my dog. It's important to continue to treat your house and dogs for fleas for the two full weeks as there are four stages of fleas: egg, larvae, pupae, and adult. Capstar pills are only effective against adult fleas, while Vets best is effective against all stages except the pupae stage, so you need to be diligent in order to kill the pupae before they turn into adults. I still saw stuff come off my dog on my flea comb through day 10 or so.

Day 0

*Researched how to get rid of fleas and I ordered two bottles of Vets Best, 1 flea comb, and Capstar pills.

Day 1

*Called vet. She didn't really help

*Sprayed my dog with vets best, let it dry, then shampooed it out. I repeated this again eight hours later.

*Gave my dog 1 Capstar pill that day.

*Stripped my bed (normally she sleeps with me), my clothes, and her dog bed and washed these (took 4 large loads) in sanitary setting in my washer and steam extra hot dried them.

*Any other linens laying around I double bagged for two weeks.

*Vacuumed the floors 5 times. Like literally every time my dog switched positions I vacuumed.

*Each time the floor was vacuumed I dumped the contents in the outside trash can.

*Closed off all rooms in the house and only allowed my dog in the family room and master bedroom in order to contain the fleas. (Days 1-15)

*That night my daughter combed through my dogs hair outside and found hundreds of eggs/larvae, which she removed and drowned in water, then tossed out.

*Sprayed the entire house with vets best, including the sofa, chairs, baseboards.

*Sprayed entire interior of the car with Vet's best

*Called professional exterminators but they weren’t able to come until day two.

Day 2, 4, 6, 8

*Sprayed dog again with Vet's best, let it dry, then shampooed it out

*Vacuumed the floors 2-3 times throughout the day. Dumped out the contents immediately after each time.

*Professional exterminators sprayed the entire floor of our house and outside. We had to leave the house for 3 hours until it dried. (Day 2 only)

*Washed dogs bed, towels, and sheet she layed on, on high sanitary heat setting and steam dry extra hot dryer.(Days 2, 4 only)

*Combed through my dogs hair outside and found eggs/larvae, which were removed and drowned in water, then tossed out.

*Day 8 only: Sprayed entire interior of the car with Vet's Best

Day 3, 5, 7

*Vacuumed the floors 2-3 times throughout the day. Dumped out the contents immediately after each time.

*Gave dog 1 Capstar

*Washed dogs bed, towels, and sheet she layed on, on high sanitary heat setting and steam dry extra hot dryer. (Day 7 only)

*Combed through my dogs hair outside and found eggs/larvae, which were removed and drowned in water, then tossed out.

Days 9-15

*Vacuumed the floors 2-3 times throughout the day. Dumped out the contents immediately after each time.

*Combed through my dogs hair outside and found eggs/larvae, which were removed and drowned in water, then tossed out.

All the stuff I did may sound excessive, but after reading several reports of people who can't get rid of the fleas for months, I would much rather go this route than deal with fleas for that long. By far the hardest part of the whole thing was not cuddling with my dog for two weeks.
