2022 Topps Opening Day Baseball is perfect for kids who love baseball. The release carries a 220-card base set. It features this year’s rookies and the game’s best players. Additionally, seven insert sets showcase the experience of attending a game. There are even a few autographs and memorabilia cards. History of Topps Opening Day BaseballThe Topps’ Opening Day Baseball line debuted in 1998. It was sold as an affordable set geared towards younger fans. Indeed, that remains its purpose. The photos and designs for the Opening Day line are similar to the main Topps release. The differentiating factor is the Opening Day logo. In addition, some inserts are very explicitly geared towards younger fans. For example, mascots and other stadium fun. A cool feature of this release are the Opening Day Edition parallels. These base set variation cards are numbered based on the year. Therefore, this year’s parallels are numbered to /2,022.  Topps Opening Day has the occasional banger like this Blue Foil Shohei Ohtani rookie card. Look for more Shohei Opening Day rookies on eBay. Therefore, it’s a set of mostly base cards. Accordingly, wax won’t grow in value. And that’s okay! Kids deserve a fun product that adults won’t fight over. The 2022 Topps Opening Day Baseball Review Of FormatsGet your 2022 Topps Opening Day Hobby Box. Topps will release 2022 Opening Day Baseball in two formats. Hobby boxes and blaster boxes. Hobby boxes are slated to hit the shelves on March 9. Meanwhile, blaster boxes will drop on March 23. Although hobby boxes usually carry a high price tag, Opening Day Baseball is meant for a younger audience. Therefore, it can be pre-ordered for $64.95. Kids will find a bunch of fun inserts. Meanwhile, a lucky few will snag a cool autograph or relic piece. Blaster boxes are even more affordable. They are currently available for pre-order at $24.95. Additionally, there are a bunch of inserts that depict the game off the diamond. Furthermore, there are a few autographs and memorabilia cards. These, however, are not the focus of this release. InsertsThere are three new inserts in the 2022 release. Meanwhile, a few Opening Day Baseball fan-favorite inserts return. The three new sets are Bomb Squad, Luck of the Irish, and Triple Play. The Bomb Squad set comprises 25 of baseball’s best power hitters. They include Giancarlo Stanton, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Shohei Ohtani. All three players are featured in the Bomb Squad set. In addition, there are a few past players alongside current stars. Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Babe Ruth are three Hall of Famers present. Kids might remember seeing players wear green jerseys in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Photographs from those games are featured in the Luck of the Irish set. There are 20 players in this set, including Byron Buxton, Rafael Devers and Alex Kirilloff. The final new insert set and my personal favorite is Triple Play. Kids today likely won’t recognize these cards playing off Topps’ 1980 basketball set. However, they will identify the stars featured on the cards. 10 cards make up the Triple Play insert set. They include baseball’s best Jr.’s — Ronald Acuña Jr., Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Fernando Tatis Jr. The nine other cards are as follows:
