What are the benefits of drinking 5 Litres of water a day?

It is often said that water is the miracle potion that has amazing health benefits. Thanks to my health-conscious mother, I was always made to gulp down at least 3 litres of water every day, if not more. I never realised that this habit actually worked out in my favour. One of the immediate things that come to mind is that it keeps my digestion healthy.

Recently, a friend of mine told me much more about this low key liquid than I already knew. She has been the advertiser-of-sorts of water for me. She challenged me to drink 5 litres of it every day and see the magic it does to my skin. Already at 3, I thought I could give 5 a shot too and trust me, girls, I have all the good things to say about my experiment.

I would start my day by drinking 1 litre of water every day. Initially, I felt like I would throw up the extra water I was consuming. But by the 3rd or the 4th day, it was much easier. During the rest of the day, I made sure I kept sipping. Also, tip guys, please don’t use plastic bottles as they are carcinogenic in nature. I use a 1-litre glass bottle and would fill it every 2-3 hours at the office.

At first, I couldn’t believe that what was happening to me was because of my increased water consumption, because, well, it’s water, just water! You know what I mean? And yet, I had to believe it because it’s the truth. It was simply because of my hydration spree that the following happened to me.

My skin started to glow and get clear. The daily commute, pollution and then sitting at a desk constantly in the AC does take the glow away from your skin. But, when I undertook this experiment, that glow was returned to my face. Also, it wasn’t just me who felt that. People at work started asking me what I was doing.

I felt that my skin was clearer, there were lesser breakouts and my skin was better for it. Besides the skin benefits, increased water consumption also helped my hair look glossier and reduced my hairfall to a half!
