[toc] One of the biggest questions we get after a big new expansion is: What are the best weapons in the game now? Show
While we’ve answered that question before, this time we’ll focus on every new weapon released with The Witch Queen. In this guide, we’ll cover both Exotic and Legendary weapons (including their PVP and PVE god rolls), including free-to-play, Season Pass, and The Witch Queen exclusive weapons, and we will tell you which ones deserve your attention the most. Destiny 2 The Witch Queen Weapons Tier listThe Tier list below includes every Exotic and Legendary weapon released with The Witch Queen. It starts with the S Tier weapons and moves down from there. It also covers both PVE and PVP, with the “Excels in” column clearly identifying in what area each weapon shines: NameWeaponsTypeArchetypeAmmoElementRequirementsIn loot pool?RankSourceAvailable?Tier rankSource ❘ DLCFinal VerdictReleasedPerksOsteo Striga Osteo StrigaSubmachine GunExoticPrimaryKineticThe Witch QueenYesS › BestDeluxe Edition ❘ S Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Fires a stream of sentient, toxic projectiles that track the targeted enemy. Landing a final blow or multiple precision hits triggers a burst that poisons nearby targets." ► Feeling extremely nice to use in both PVE and PVP, Osteo Striga became an instant favorite for many. Its poison-spreading effect makes it one of the best ad-clear primaries in PVE, and its enemy-tracking bullets make it an easy-to-use option in PVP. Plus, you can craft your own Osteo Striga God roll. What's not to love? Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Fires a stream of sentient, toxic projectiles that track the targeted enemy. Landing a final blow or multiple precision hits triggers a burst that poisons nearby targets."Dead Messenger
❘ S Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "One-shot handheld Grenade Launcher. Projectiles release a fan of three energy waves on contact with the ground. You can change damage type, cycling between Solar, Arc, and Void." ► Dead Messenger is one of the most potent weapons in the game. Excelling in both PvP and PvE, this Wave Frame Grenade Launcher is not only remarkably easy to use, but it can also completely nullify the Match Game modifier with its ability to change elements. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "One-shot handheld Grenade Launcher. Projectiles release a fan of three energy waves on contact with the ground. You can change damage type, cycling between Solar, Arc, and Void."Palmyra-B
❘ S Excels in: Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Auto-Loading Holster + Lasting Impression (Explosive Light) PvP God Roll: Impulse Amplifier + Chain Reaction (Chill Clip) ► While Palmyra-B used to be the best legendary rocket launcher available, recent changes have resulted in Precision Frame rockets doing less damage than most other frames. While still an S-Tier choice because of its unrivaled perks and intrinsic tracking, The Hothead and Hezen Vengeance are better options (assuming you can reliably aim without tracking). Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Auto-Loading Holster + Lasting Impression (Explosive Light) PvP God Roll: Impulse Amplifier + Chain Reaction (Chill Clip)Insidious
❘ S Excels in: Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Aggressive Burst PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Dragonfly) + Rampage PvP God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Heating Up) + Rampage ► One of very few 4-burst pulse rifles, people had big expectations for this weapon. And with outstanding perk combinations for both PVE and PVP, Insidious blew those out of the water. With an S-Tier Origin Trait and no terrible perks in its pool, there's not much to hate about this pulse rifle. For PVP in particular, Aggressive Burst Pulses hit like a truck, flinching opponents with ease. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Aggressive Burst PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Dragonfly) + Rampage PvP God Roll: Rapid Hit (also good: Heating Up) + RampageUnder Your Skin
❘ S Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Archer's Tempo + Successful Warm-up(also good: Explosive Head) ► Allowing you to reduce your draw time to unprecedented levels, Under Your Skin is an easy S-Tier pick. Both Archer's Tempo and Successful Warm-up won't reduce impact (damage per arrow), meaning you can keep doing the same damage while drawing arrows at the speed of light. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Archer's Tempo + Successful Warm-up(also good: Explosive Head)Forbearance
❘ S Excels in: Slot: Arc | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Wave PvE God Roll: Ambitious Assassin (also good: Unrelenting) + Chain Reaction ► The first Wave Frame Grenade Launcher to come from a raid, Forbearance is widely regarded as the best Wave Frame we've gotten thus far. With the ability to roll the combo that made Salvager's Salvo famous, this weapon is an ad-clear machine. Not to mention, Wave Frames are extremely fun to use, and the Origin Trait is a nice cherry on top! Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Wave PvE God Roll: Ambitious Assassin (also good: Unrelenting) + Chain ReactionSnorri FR5
❘ S Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Precision PvP God Roll: Firmly Planted + Successful Warm-up ► With tons of good perks for both PVE and PVP players, Snorri FR5 is arguably the most well-rounded fusion rifle in the game. With extremely high range, Firmly Planted, and Successful Warm-up, this is an obvious pick for PVP. With good range and stability, the Snorri FR5 can be the perfect tool against shotgun apes or just map people from surprising distances. Plus, with the great combination of Compulsive Reloader and Reservoir Burst, Snorri can excel in PVE too. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Precision PvP God Roll: Firmly Planted + Successful Warm-upThoughtless
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Overflow + Firing Line (also good: Focused Fury) PvP God Roll: Firmly Planted (also good: Steady Hands) + Snapshot Sights ► A very well-rounded weapon, Thoughtless has something for everyone. With Snapshot Sights and multiple different handling perks for PVP, or Overflow / Firing Line for PVE, this Sniper Rifle can be viable everywhere. That said, most people still prefer snipers that can specialize in either PVP or PVE. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Overflow + Firing Line (also good: Focused Fury) PvP God Roll: Firmly Planted (also good: Steady Hands) + Snapshot SightsSilicon Neuroma
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Aggressive PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Firing Line PvP God Roll: Snapshot Sights + Opening Shot ► Silicon Neuroma is one of the few snipers that can roll with Snapshot Sights and Opening Shot, the holy grail of PVP snipers. On top of that, it packs a low zoom value that helps it excel at closer ranges, and thanks to the recent buff to low zoom snipers, it simply feels great to use. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Aggressive PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Firing Line PvP God Roll: Snapshot Sights + Opening ShotSubmission
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Overflow (also good: Subsistence) + Frenzy (also good: Swashbuckler) PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Killing Wind ► Containing alright stats and a wide variety of interesting perk combinations, Submission is a strong option overall. While it isn't the best of the best in both PVE and PVP, it can hold its ground in both, making it a great pick if you don't have anything better. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Overflow (also good: Subsistence) + Frenzy (also good: Swashbuckler) PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Killing WindDeliverance
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Precision PvE God Rolls: Demolitionist (also good: Perpetual Motion) + Chill Klip ► Being the first kinetic (and Stasis!) legendary Fusion makes Deliverance already worth grabbing. Plus, with the great perk combos for PVE and PVP, you can't go wrong with this one-of-a-kind weapon. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Precision PvE God Rolls: Demolitionist (also good: Perpetual Motion) + Chill KlipParasite
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Solar | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Fires Hive worms which explode on impact. The size and damage of the explosion scales with the number of enemies you've defeated just before firing this weapon. Taking damage from your own worm projectile detonation empowers your weapons for a short time." ► Arguably the most unique gun in the game, Parasite fires live explosive worms instead of regular grenades. If you can get lots of Worm's Hunger stacks, this weapon can do some insane damage. Its unmatched burst damage and extremely high fun factor combine to make Parasite an extremely strong option in PVE. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Fires Hive worms which explode on impact. The size and damage of the explosion scales with the number of enemies you've defeated just before firing this weapon. Taking damage from your own worm projectile detonation empowers your weapons for a short time."Duty Bound
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Stats for All + Rampage OR Triple Tap + Fourth Time's The Charm ► A returning fan favorite from Year 1, Duty Bound has some great PVE-oriented perks and even the rare combo of Triple Tap/Fourth Time's The Charm. That said, Adaptive Frame Auto Rifles aren't the worst, but also don't excel anywhere. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Stats for All + Rampage OR Triple Tap + Fourth Time's The CharmKrait
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Subsistence (also good: Stats for All) + One for All (also good: Headstone) ► Mimicking Valakadyn from Year 1, Krait has immediately become a fan favorite among players in the community. With some good PVE-oriented perks and the Veist Stinger Origin Trait, you can't go wrong with this 720RPM Auto Rifle. However, there are numerous other options, like Chroma Rush, that sadly outclass Krait in most scenarios. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Subsistence (also good: Stats for All) + One for All (also good: Headstone)Explosive Personality
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Solar | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Wave PvE God Roll: Feeding Frenzy (also good: Auto-Loading Holster) + Frenzy (also good: One For All) ► There's a lot to love about Explosive Personality. With a solid PVE-oriented perk pool and the Land Tank Origin Trait, which gives you damage resist on kill, you can't go wrong with this amazing Wave Frame Grenade Launcher. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Wave PvE God Roll: Feeding Frenzy (also good: Auto-Loading Holster) + Frenzy (also good: One For All)The Enigma
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Grave Robber (also good: Impulse Amplifier) + Unrelenting (also good: Frenzy) ► With its well-rounded perk pool and great availability, The Enigma is currently the strongest glaive. While it does contain some great PvE perks, it's in PvP is where it shines. Because it's simply the 'tutorial glaive,' The Enigma could be quickly overtaken on this list soon enough; however, for now, this glaive is the best option. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Grave Robber (also good: Impulse Amplifier) + Unrelenting (also good: Frenzy)Sweet Sorrow
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Stats for All + One for All ► Sweet Sorrow feels extremely nice to fire but falls flat soon after you take a closer look at its perk pool. But while it can't offer unique rolls, it can offer the reliable Stats for All and One for All combo. Plus, it's craftable! Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Stats for All + One for AllAisha's Embrace
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Vorpal Weapon ► With a small and extremely well-rounded perk pool, it's hard to get a bad roll of Aisha's Embrace. That, combined with its Scout Rifle range, large magazine size, and frequent seasonal champion mods make Aisha's a great pick for anything PvE. The Rapid-Fire archetype is the only thing holding Aisha's back, as Lightweight and Precision frames are currently stronger. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Vorpal WeaponFunnelweb
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Subsistence + Adrenaline Junkie (also good: Frenzy ) ► A toned-down version of The Recluse, Funnelweb is currently one of the best PVE options in the game. With solid perk combinations and the ability to fire Volatile Rounds, this weapon makes red bars disappear right in front of your eyes. Plus, it's a world drop, meaning you don't even need to go out of your way to farm it. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Subsistence + Adrenaline Junkie (also good: Frenzy )Collective Obligation
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "This weapon leeches Void debuffs when damaging targets that are suppressed, weakened, or volatile. Once charged, damage from this weapon applies the same Void debuffs that were leeched. Weapon automatically reloads when you gain Devour, a Void overshield, or become invisible." ► With the ability to debuff everything in sight, Collective Obligation can do things no other weapon can. That being said, you're almost required to create a build with it to make it worth your exotic slot. While this weapon has potential, having to work so hard to make your exotic feel "exotic" isn't great. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "This weapon leeches Void debuffs when damaging targets that are suppressed, weakened, or volatile. Once charged, damage from this weapon applies the same Void debuffs that were leeched. Weapon automatically reloads when you gain Devour, a Void overshield, or become invisible."Piece of Mind
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion (also good: Overflow) + Moving Target ► With a TTK of 0.80s, Piece of Mind is a solid PVP choice. It's not a High-Impact Pulse and it doesn't have the best TTK, yet it can absolutely shred in PVP while simultaneously feeling great in your hands. As a Rapid-Fire pulse, Piece of Mind isn't great at peak shooting, but if used aggressively, it can easily dominate medium-range engagements. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion (also good: Overflow) + Moving TargetRagnhild-D
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Aggressive PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Elemental Capacitor ► Currently the second-best PvP shotgun in the game, Ragnhild-D is an unexpected top-tier pick for the Crucible--especially while using an Arc Subclass and Elemental Capacitor. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Aggressive PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Elemental CapacitorCantata-57
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvP God Roll: Eye of the Storm + Opening Shot (also good: Rangefinder ) ► Lots of players are calling the Cantata-57 the best Legendary Hand Cannon, and its impressive stats and powerful Origin Trait back that up. With several great perk combos, this is a great pick that rivals other top PVP hand cannons. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvP God Roll: Eye of the Storm + Opening Shot (also good: Rangefinder )Likely Suspect
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Firmly Planted + Successful Warm-up ► A craftable weapon able to roll with all the hot new perks, including Successful Warmup, Likely Suspect is an easy weapon to recommend. Plus, as a Void weapon, it fully benefits from Void 3.0. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Firmly Planted + Successful Warm-upFather's Sins
❘ A Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Under Pressure + Snapshot Sights ► Now that Snipers with low zoom levels got a buff, Snipers such as Father's Sins are back on the table. Able to roll with the indispensable Snapshot Sights, Father's Sin is the most accessible and competent sniper for PVP right now. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvP God Roll: Under Pressure + Snapshot SightsEmpirical Evidence
❘ A Throne WorldSlot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Aggressive Burst PvE God Roll: Compulsive Reloader + Swashbuckler ► Ever since Breachlight debuted in Season of Dawn, there have been tons of fans of Aggressive Burst Sidearms. Empirical Evidence, however, quickly falls flat on its face with barely any good PVE-oriented perks. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Aggressive Burst PvE God Roll: Compulsive Reloader + SwashbucklerTyphon GL5
❘ A World loot poolSlot: Stasis | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Impulse Amplifier + Explosive Light (also good: Chill Klip) ► Even though Typhon GL5 has some great perks like Explosive Light, it doesn't excel in any part of the game simply because it's a heavy Grenade Launcher. Until these become stronger options for either ad clear or DPS, this weapon will sadly be forgotten by most of the community. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Impulse Amplifier + Explosive Light (also good: Chill Klip)Razor's Edge
❘ A Iron BannerSlot: Void | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Vortex PvE God Roll: Relentless Strikes + Chain Reaction (also good: Frenzy) ► Razor's Edge is the first-ever Iron Banner sword. It looks cool, it is part of the Vortex archetype, immediately placing it above many other swords. Furthermore, it can roll with a couple of interesting perks and features the Skulking Frenzy Origin trait. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Vortex PvE God Roll: Relentless Strikes + Chain Reaction (also good: Frenzy)Grand Overture
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Arc | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Heavy slug launcher that charges, then fires full auto while the trigger is held. Land hits with the slug launcher to load missiles and then fire to launch all missiles in a single volley." ► Grand Overture is a strong option when compared to other machine guns. For example, it has one of the best DPS outputs for a machine gun right now. However, it can't be considered top-tier as it's lacking when it comes to ad clear, which is what machine guns are used for right now. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "Heavy slug launcher that charges, then fires full auto while the trigger is held. Land hits with the slug launcher to load missiles and then fire to launch all missiles in a single volley."Fel Taradiddle
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Archer's Tempo + Explosive Head (also good: Successful Warm-Up) ► Able to roll with all the best PVE perks possible, Fel Taradiddle is potentially the best Lightweight bow in the entire game. Just try it with Archer's Tempo and Successful Warm-Up and you won't believe its speed. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Archer's Tempo + Explosive Head (also good: Successful Warm-Up)Ogma PR6
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Demolitionist + Wellspring ► Containing some perk combinations we've never seen before, Ogma PR6 is definitely an underrated pick. Able to roll with both Demolitionist and Wellspring at the same time, this exact roll is a must-have for any player making ability-focused builds. Beyond that though, Ogma doesn't have much going for it. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Demolitionist + WellspringRed Herring
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Void | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Field Prep + Lasting Impression ► Being part of one of the most competitive weapon types, the Red Herring Rocket Launcher has a high standard to live up to. Sadly, with no intrinsic tracking and few S-tier perks, this weapon isn't worth using over its competitors. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Field Prep + Lasting ImpressionRecurrent Impact
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Subsistence (also good: Perpetual Motion) + One for All (also good: Headstone) ► Recurrent Impact edges slightly higher than its Rapid-Fire competition as it comes with the origin trait 'Land Tank' which makes you tankier with each kill. This, along with Subsistence can make you an ad clearing, tanky teammate that can mow through enemies. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Subsistence (also good: Perpetual Motion) + One for All (also good: Headstone)Cataclysmic
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Solar | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Fourth Time's The Charm + Focused Fury (also good: High-Impact Reserves) ► Cataclysmic is the first raid Linear Fusion we've gotten, and it wears that title with pride. Containing some of the best damage perks in the game, this weapon can pump out tons of total damage. That said, it is still simply outclassed by Reed's Regret. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Fourth Time's The Charm + Focused Fury (also good: High-Impact Reserves)Syncopation-53
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Outlaw + Headstone ► Other than the fact that it is Stasis, and therefore can roll with Headstone, Syncopation-53 is an average weapon with not too many strong points. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Outlaw + HeadstoneFortissimo-11
❘ B Excels in: Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Pinpoint Slug PvP God Roll: Threat Detector + Opening Shot (also good: Moving Target) ► Fortissimo-11 was the first Shotgun to roll with Adagio, a perk that allowed it to 1-shot Guardians to the body in PvP. Adagio has now been nerfed on Shotguns, which is why Fortissimo-11 fell in the pecking order. However, it's still a consistent Slug Shotgun that you should keep an eye on. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Pinpoint Slug PvP God Roll: Threat Detector + Opening Shot (also good: Moving Target)Reckless Endangerment
❘ B Exotic KioskSlot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Lightweight PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Snapshot Sights ► As Season 16's ritual weapon, Reckless Endangerment comes with a set roll. And while this shotgun isn't the best of the best, it's still a very competitive option. With the ability to get an outrageous amount of handling, this set-rolled weapon is a good PVP choice for anyone not wanting to grind a specific weapon for ages. Season 16Slot: Kinetic | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Lightweight PvP God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Snapshot SightsEdge of Action
❘ B Exotic QuestSlot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "When weapon energy is full, consume it before firing to make your next shot deploy a protective shield on impact.." ► Edge of Action slowly became the best of the three class-specific glaives. That's because of its interactions with Helm of Saint-14 and its general ease of use. All that said, it still can be hard making the call to use your exotic slot on a glaive, and the exotic perk can be tedious to proc at times, making it average on our list. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "When weapon energy is full, consume it before firing to make your next shot deploy a protective shield on impact.."Edge of Intent
❘ B Exotic QuestSlot: Solar | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "When weapon energy is full, consume it before firing to make your next shot deploy a healing turret on impact." ► Warlocks have the most average of the three Exotic glaives: It doesn't offer as many build opportunities as the Titan one does, but it's also not utterly useless as the Hunter one. Sure, the healing turret is a nice tool in your kit to have, but there are way more powerful synergies you can experiment with for more potent effects. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "When weapon energy is full, consume it before firing to make your next shot deploy a healing turret on impact."Frontier's Cry
❘ B Iron BannerSlot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit + Kill Clip ► Frontier's Cry can actually roll with some decent perks, but still falls flat in every activity as Precision Frame Hand Cannons aren't very good. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit + Kill ClipFugue-55
❘ B World loot poolSlot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvP God Roll: Steady Hands + Snapshot Sights ► Fugue-55 can roll with Snapshot Sights, immediately making it decent in PVP. Having said that, its extremely high zoom stat and lackluster other perk column make it one of the weaker options out there. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvP God Roll: Steady Hands + Snapshot SightsHerod-C
❘ C Playlist: GambitSlot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Subsistence + Focused Fury (also good: Frenzy) ► With its subpar perks and lacking archetype, Herod-C doesn't have too much going for it. Its giant perk pool also doesn't help anything, as it makes grinding this weapon extremely irritating. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Subsistence + Focused Fury (also good: Frenzy)Perses-D
❘ C World loot poolSlot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit + Explosive Payload (also good: Headstone) ► While Perses-D can roll with some of the best PVE scout rifle perks, it falls into an archetype that is extremely lacking, making other weapons (such as Night Watch and Hung Jury SR4) better picks overall. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Rapid Hit + Explosive Payload (also good: Headstone)Forensic Nightmare
❘ C Throne WorldSlot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Kill Clip (also good: Headstone) ► Being the first Stasis SMG, you'd expect Forensic Nightmare to excel in some way--sadly, this isn't the case. With only an average range stat and no range-boosting perks, this weapon falls flat in PVP. Plus, it's missing top-tier perks for PVE, making it a very weak pick. Season 16Slot: Stasis | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Precision PvE God Roll: Perpetual Motion + Kill Clip (also good: Headstone)Crisis Inverted
❘ C Playlist: CrucibleSlot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvP God Roll: Compulsive Reloader + Rangefinder (also good: Opening Shot) ► Crisis Inverted can roll with some top-tier PVP perks and has nice synergy between Compulsive Reloader and Omolon Fluid Dynamics. However, with its fairly low range stat and gigantic perk pool, this weapon isn't worth farming over the Cantata-57, Eyasluna, or Palindrome. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Adaptive PvP God Roll: Compulsive Reloader + Rangefinder (also good: Opening Shot)Come to Pass
❘ C WellspringSlot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Adaptive Munitions ► Come to Pass looks good on paper and can offer a roll that should do great in endgame content. It's just too bad it's part of a lacking archetype that desperately needs some attention. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Triple Tap + Adaptive MunitionsPointed Inquiry
❘ C Throne WorldSlot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Fourth Time's The Charm + Adaptive Munitions ► Perhaps one of the weaker options released with The Witch Queen, the Pointed Inquiry is a mediocre Scout Rifle. It handles poorly and feels rather clunky due to its High-Impact frame and lacks many top-tier perks, with the only decent options being Shoot to Loot and Adaptive Munitions for Match Game content. Season 16Slot: Void | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: High-Impact PvE God Roll: Fourth Time's The Charm + Adaptive MunitionsRedback-5si
❘ C World loot poolSlot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Subsistence + Rampage ► Because of its S-tier PVE perks and Lightweight Frame, Redback-5si seems amazing... until you start firing it. Sidearms feel extremely weak in PVE right now and need a major buff before this weapon (or any other sidearm) becomes usable. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Primary | Archetype: Lightweight PvE God Roll: Subsistence + RampageTarnation
❘ C WellspringSlot: Arc | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Clown Cartridge + One For All ► Tarnation suffers from the poor Rapid-Fire archetype and a poor perk pool. However, the saving grace of Tarnation is its ability to be crafted, completely nullifying the RNG aspect. It can also come with Enhanced Perks, which place it above its Rapid-Fire competition. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Heavy | Archetype: Rapid-Fire PvE God Roll: Clown Cartridge + One For AllLubrae's Ruin
❘ C Vow of the Disciple RaidSlot: Solar | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Grave Robber + Swashbuckler ► While Lubrae's Ruin has amazing lore, it lacks in numerous key gameplay areas. Just like other glaives, the ranged ability feels weak, and the melee attack can get you into trouble if you're not careful. Not to mention, some melee-based traits don't even work with the glaive melee attack, making Lubrae's Ruin feel terrible to wield. Season 16Slot: Solar | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Adaptive PvE God Roll: Grave Robber + SwashbucklerEdge of Concurrence
❘ D Exotic QuestSlot: Arc | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "When weapon energy is full, consume it before firing to make your next shot track targets across the ground and unleash chain lightning on impact." ► Hunters are known to sometimes get the short end of the stick, and this happens to be one of those times. Edge of Concurrence and its chain lightning abilities are exceptional in theory, but other exotics already do this significantly better (namely Trinity Ghoul and Riskrunner). All that said, it's hard to recommend Edge of Concurrence, even with Arc 3.0. Season 16Slot: Arc | Ammo: Special | Archetype: Exotic Exotic Perk: "When weapon energy is full, consume it before firing to make your next shot track targets across the ground and unleash chain lightning on impact." Top 10 Destiny 2 Witch Queen weaponsThis section not only covers the top The Witch Queen weapons. Overall, these are our Top 10 favorite weapons from The Witch Queen for PVE and PVP. 10. Piece of MindExcels in PVP One of the best feeling Pulse Rifles in the game, Piece of Mind is packed with tons of consistency options. Beginning with its intrinsic attributes, this weapon is a part of the Rapid-Fire archetype. While their optimal TTK is pretty average at 0.80s, they only require 78% of your shots to be precision hits (7 headshots and 2 bodyshots), making them the most consistent of all Pulse Rifles. Not only that, Piece of Mind’s amazing scope and a high aim assist stat at 82 make it feel extremely nice to shoot. Containing some fairly niche traits, Piece of Mind’s perk pool is, in a way, a double-edged sword. The wide variety of consistency options is all you need for PVP, but the lack of good reload and damage perks makes this weapon lack in PVE. Even though this weapon only has an average TTK, Piece of Mind is a solid option for anyone wanting something extremely consistent. PVP God roll:
How to get it: Piece of Mind can be acquired by completing Seasonal activities and focusing Umbral engrams. [table “300” not found /]9. Cantata-57Excels in PVP Easily a Top 3 Hand Cannon for PVP, Cantata-57 has gotten a lot of attention from the community ever since the DLC launch. With the right perk combination, you can make its already good stats even better for an entire fight. While there are tons of good rolls you can get to fit your specific playstyle, the most interesting option is Eye of the Storm / Opening Shot. At the beginning of your duel, Opening Shot will give you extra range–Cantata’s lacking stat when compared to The Palindrome or Eyasluna. Soon after, Eye of the Storm will kick in, giving you increased accuracy. Additionally, Cantata’s Origin Trait reduces incoming flinch after a reload. This added perk can fill the gap between Opening Shot and Eye of the Storm, making sure that a variety of your stats are always buffed. In conjunction, these three perks make Cantata-57 feel very nice to use. Keep a watchful eye on this gun when it drops–it’s an S-Tier pick in PVP, and there are tons of good perk combinations you can discover that we didn’t cover here. PVP God roll:
How to get it: Cantata-57 can be randomly acquired as end-of-match activities or via the Gunsmith, Legendary engrams and Prime engrams. [table “300” not found /]8. Likely SuspectExcels in PVP Currently the most used Fusion Rifle in Quickplay, it’s no surprise that Likely Suspect is on this list. This thing is a monster in PVP because of its quick charge time and great perks. Giving extra accuracy and stability (among other things), Firmly Planted is an obvious pick when looking at this weapon’s perk pool. Successful Warm-up, a perk that came with this DLC, is also an amazing choice. Having an already-fast base charge time, Likely Suspect can fire shots absurdly quickly with Successful Warm-up active. The only downside of this weapon is its range (or lack thereof). As a tradeoff for their low charge time, Rapid-Fire Frame Fusions all have abysmal range. However, for Likely Suspect, this isn’t much of an issue. Its amazing stats and unparalleled perks carry this gun to the top. Even if you’ve never used a Fusion Rifle in PVP before, keep an eye out for a good roll of this one. It’s extremely easy to learn and counters Shotguns like nothing else can. PVP God roll:
How to get it: Likely Suspect can be acquired by completing activities in the Throne World. It can also be crafted! [table “300” not found /]7. Under Your SkinExcels in PVE Bow users have been begging for a good Void Bow ever since Subtle Calamity got sunset, and after a year, they finally have one. Under Your Skin has perk combinations that people have adored for years, while also shaking up the pot a little and introducing some completely new ones. For Veteran players, the most obvious pick here is Archer’s Tempo and Explosive Head. A great combo for this bow no doubt, these two perks have been S-Tier since they were first released. However, upon taking a second glance at Under Your Skin’s perk pool, you’ll be able to spot a combination even better. A new perk with The Witch Queen, Successful Warm-up has immediately become the obvious choice for all Bows and Fusion Rifles. With the roll Archer’s Tempo + Successful Warm-up, Under Your Skin has the same damage as any other Precision Frame Bow while having a negligible draw time. This bow’s draw time can even beat out Hush, an old pinnacle Bow that centered around firing arrows quickly. An overall great pick, Under Your Skin has everything that makes a Bow worth using in PVE. PVE God roll:
How to get it: Under Your Skin can be acquired by completing Seasonal activities and focusing Umbral engrams. [table “300” not found /]6. Snorri FR5Excels in PVP Coming out of seemingly nowhere, Snorri FR5 is one of the most well-rounded Fusion Rifles we’ve gotten to date. Boasting an absurd 65 range stat, Snorri is a no-brainer for Crucible. With the new combination of Firmly Planted + Successful Warm-up, this world drop is a longer range version of Likely Suspect. The only difference is the charge time, which doesn’t matter when you have a perk like Successful Warm-up active. That’s not even the end of this Fusion Rifle’s capabilities though. Rather, it’s only the beginning. With another new combination, Compulsive Reloader + Reservoir Burst, Snorri can excel in PVE too. These two perks have perfect synergy, making this Fusion the closest thing that we’ve gotten to the original Loaded Question. Containing tons of one-of-a-kind perk combinations, Snorri FR5 has a little bit of everything. No matter what guns you like using or what activities you like running, keep an eye out for this weapon. It just might end up surprising you, as it did the rest of the community. PVP God roll:
How to get it: Snorri FR5 can be acquired by completing Seasonal activities and focusing Umbral engrams. [table “300” not found /]5. Palmyra-BExcels in PVE Other than being the first Stasis Rocket Launcher added to the game, Palmyra-B isn’t as different from other rockets as you may think. However, there are a few reasons why the PVE community prefers this weapon over others in the current DPS meta. To begin with, Palmyra can be crafted, making it accessible to people who don’t want to spend 10 hours grinding for a mediocre Royal Entry. Crafted weapons can also get enhanced perks, allowing this weapon to edge past its competition even more. Palmyra’s frame also gives it intrinsic tracking, which puts it ahead of other Rocket Launchers such as The Hothead and Tomorrow’s Answer. Palmyra is the current DPS meta because of Auto-Loading Holster, which allows it to be used in collaboration with special weapons like Izanagi’s Burden. Overall, Palmyra-B’s tracking, Stasis element, and ability to be crafted have made it a favorite of the PVE community and a part of the DPS meta. PVE God roll:
How to get it: Palmyra-B can be acquired by completing Seasonal activities and focusing Umbral engrams. [table “300” not found /]4. Osteo StrigaExcels in PVE and PVP What happens if you combine Thorn, a Submachine Gun, and Necrotic Grip? Well, you get one of the best ad clear weapons in the game: Osteo Striga. With its fast fire rate and spreading poison, it’s no wonder Osteo Striga is an S-Tier choice in PVE. Plus, with its projectile-like tracking rounds, this SMG excels in PVP as well. Just give it a try–you barely even have to aim with it! While all of these qualities make Osteo a great pick, it contains a final strength that makes it one of Destiny’s most broken weapons. Osteo Striga’s catalyst can allow the weapon to get over 100 bullets in the magazine. This boosts its PVE performance even further, essentially turning it into a poison-spreading Huckleberry. Overall, Osteo Striga is a top-tier pick anywhere in the game. Its tracking bullets, S-tier catalyst, and poison-spreading effects, and ability to craft your god roll all combine to make a well-rounded gun that can’t be beat. Exotic Perk: “Fires a stream of sentient, toxic projectiles that track the targeted enemy. Landing a final blow or multiple precision hits triggers a burst that poisons nearby targets.” How to get it: Osteo Striga can be acquired by purchasing The Witch Queen’s Deluxe edition. [table “300” not found /]3. FunnelwebExcels in PVE The #1 used primary weapon in PVE, Funnelweb has the potential to be the best ad clear weapon in the game. With its best roll being Subsistence + Adrenaline Junkie, this SMG slightly lacks in perks. It doesn’t have an S-Tier damage perk like Rampage, and Subsistence can be a little hard to proc on an SMG. Instead of these perks, Funnelweb gets its power from two other things: Veist Stinger, and Volatile Rounds. The Veist Stringer Origin Trait randomly reloads your weapon when damaging an enemy. This pairs extremely well with Subsistence, and both compliment each other nicely. Volatile Rounds is an interaction with Void 3.0 and can be triggered using a Fragment (in your subclass) or the Season 16 Volatile Flow mod. When you get this to activate, Funnelweb becomes an ad clear beast, making enemies explode and disappear all over the place. Overall, Funnelweb is one of the best PVE weapons in the game right now and deserves all the recognition it’s getting. With great Void 3.0 interactions and an amazing feel, there’s nothing else like it in the game right now. PVE God roll:
How to get it: Funnelweb can be acquired by completing Seasonal activities and focusing Umbral engrams. [table “300” not found /]2. InsidiousExcels in PVE and PVP With Go Figure, Blast Furnace, and Sacred Provenance all being community favorites, it’s no surprise that the next 4-burst Pulse Rifle down the line is just as great. There’s nothing to dislike about Insidious. With a 0.73s TTK in The Crucible, 4-burst Pulses in general are a strong pick. They’re easy to use, have good range, and don’t have any major flaws in terms of overall performance. And with arguably the best stats of all the Aggressive Frame Pulse Rifles, Insidious feels amazing to shoot in both PVE and PVP. Plus, with perk rolls like Rapid Hit + Rampage that are universally great, or more unique ones like Dragonfly + One for All, this Pulse has something for everyone. The first 4-burst Pulse Rifle in over two years, Insidious simply feels good to shoot and comes with some fantastic perks. And with Arc 3.0 on the horizon, Insidious could become even stronger in the coming months. PVE God roll:
PVP God roll:
How to get it: Insidious can be acquired by completing the second or final encounter of the Vow of the Disciple raid. [table “300” not found /]Honorable MentionsThoughtless (Excels in PVE and PVP)A top-tier pick in both PVP and PVE, Thoughtless can do more boss damage than Izanagi’s Burden with the right setup. However, because of the required setup for PVE and the fact that it’s outclassed in PVP, this weapon barely doesn’t make the Top 10. Submission (Excels in PVE and PVP)While other SMGs may have better stats and perks, Submission still holds its own in both PVE and PVP with a nice feel and interesting stat combinations. Dead Messenger (Excels in PVE and PVP)The best of the three element-swapping exotics, Dead Messenger provides great utility in PVE and is very strong in PVP. Additionally, because it can fire Void, Arc, and Solar, this wave frame might become even stronger with the rest of the Light 3.0 changes. 1. ForbearanceExcels in PVE Forbearance is arguably the best ad clear special weapon in the game–and with a roll that is only on one other Grenade Launcher, this thing is as unique as it is powerful. To start, Forbearance is one of few Wave Frame Grenade Launchers. These weapons are some of the most unique legendaries in the game and have been loved by all since their debut in Season of Dawn. With great ease of use and ad clear potential, Forbearance being a Wave Frame already makes it A-tier. What makes it S-tier is a specific perk combination that can only roll on one other Special Grenade Launcher. That Grenade Launcher is Salvager’s Salvo, and the perk roll is Ambitious Assassin + Chain Reaction. Ambitious Assassin only requires one kill to make the next magazine load with 2 shots, making it great on any Breech Loaded Grenade Launcher. Moving to the second perk, Chain Reaction is usually reserved for Heavy Weapons; the only two exceptions to this rule are Salvo and Forbearance. With how big the wave is from each Forbearance shot, Chain Reaction can make anything around you explode in an instant. Overall, Forbearance is extremely powerful in any PVE content you put it against and doesn’t have many downsides. With its perks, Origin Trait, frame, and so much more, there’s no question that this is the best weapon to come from The Witch Queen. PVE God roll:
How to get it: Forbearance can be acquired by completing the second or final encounter of the Vow of the Disciple raid. [table “300” not found /]Ranking criteriaFor the record, as much as we tried to keep this list as objective as possible, it’s still based on our personal experience playing the PC version of the game. Also, even with a thousand+ hours of playtime, I’m far from being an expert nor an amazing PVE/PVP player. This is why I brought Apathettic along, to give you a more educated overview and description of all the new weapons!
