An insightful look at the human condition, through the lense of a group of high school students crippled by the ennui of modern existence. A bit overbearing in it's ham-handed references to Satre, Teilhard de Chardin, and Gogol, it nonetheless causes the viewer to lose him or herself in introspection, questionning the nature of reality, and forcing the viewer to wonder, "How would I stack up against giant foam rubber monsters?" Lots of cool posing in front of explosions and prancing around in spandex costumes. It's no wonder that three actors who have formerly portrayed the Red Ranger have been charged with murder- it's a living example of Nietsche's warning about gazing into the abyss.

As something that appears to be designed as one big commercial for action figures, this series doesn't burden itself with high expectations. The storyline for each episode is a variation on a single premise. Bad guys want to rule the world, Power Rangers suit up to stop them, and introduce a new "hey, I need one of those" toy lead-in. It's easy to be cynical as an adult, but young kids don't notice stuff like bad acting and egregious plot holes, or the fact that Theo, the blue one, is considerably taller as a Power Ranger than he is during his human scenes. It's unintentionally funny, which makes it tolerable for grown-ups, and so far has not resulted in incessant demands for PR toys.

My daughter loves this show! She is only 4 but she is able to keep up with all of the different characters in the various Power Rangers series that she watches. Jungle Fury is at the top of her list. While I think the acting can be a little cheesy, I do like the general good morals that are present in all of the shows.

My son absolutely loves Power Rangers, so after we ran out of the current episodes of Mega Force, we found Jungle Fury and by far it has been its favorite! The only problem is finding action toys or dress up costumes for Jungle Fury since it aired in 2004!! If you have a Power Ranger fan, you will not be disappointed.
