Pendulous Trees, and Bluish Hues In The Natural Greens

Verified purchase

"Crawdads" is really a great movie. It is not a five star film. "Crawdads" is an example-and an extraordinary one-of what happens when an extremely refined vision of possibilities is curtailed. The expansiveness, in the former fantasy that has washed over us is not as inviting when it negates towards reality, or worse.
In this movie, Kya, a nickname adopted by the young girl Catherine Clark, is abandoned on a huge, lush green tract of marshland in North Carolina. The enveloping struggles, severe, and the dream-like awakening of nascent gifts within tranquility and reflection make "Where The Crawdads Sing" a flooding passage of revelrie. Kya is a vassal for which things thoughtful promulgate around. It's a fantasy because Kya is exceptional; as a truant orphan she is turned towards gentle observations first.
This story is about how Kya(Daisy Edgar Jones) realizes her wonderful gift of natural deduction and her accompanying writing. It is also about drama. Events become complex and Daisy Edgar-Jones is absolute enthrallment when specific incidents call for the viewer to be completely subsumed. With her performance, there is never any questioning the scenes of this play, which is, on one occasion slack on motivation. Tate also, is galvanizing(Taylor John Smith), and his unheeded responsiveness to teach Kya to read is the most sprawling overlay of loving motility; a druidic twirling vineland thick in wonder. As part of this culture, the fantasy continues as Kya, or Catherine Clark, realizes that her natural observations are going to be published.
There's conflict, a serious matter to be settled, as Kya says about the citizens of Barkley Cove, her community: "They hated me". Being an outcast, to Kya the overall population assumes one face. Kya's ability not to incept spiteful distrust or acidity is a motivational treasure. I was completely absorbed in the premise, but I think that, as it is concerned with Kya's life, the fantasy becomes 'notched' in a dimension. Instead of a self-expressing narrative of images, or actions, reality is addressed in a way that is less optimizing.

LOVE IT!

As soon as I saw this was available to purchase, I quickly snatched it up. I'm a HUGE fan of the book, so I was kind of apprehensive when the movie came out. Sadly, most of the time the movie never does justice to the book, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The story line very seldom strayed from the book, and the actors were perfect for the roles. I would happily recommend it to everyone, but I still want to encourage you all to READ THE BOOK FIRST!

DVD stopped before the movie was finished

Verified purchase

I enjoyed as much of the movie would play. I believe the disk is damaged as the last 10 minutes or so of the disk would not play. I would like a replacement. I received a replacement and the same thing happened again. At first I thought it might be my disk player but I had also bought Season 6 of Outlander and it played the whole way through. This time I would like a refund.

Quite the journey

Very dramatic film that has a melancholic feel but it isn't dreary...It is thought provoking. I am from the deep South but I think it is a film for everyone. It's a simple story that is told well and performed well. The film is set in the rural South but the characters fell quite short of capturing the dialect, accent and even the mannerisms of a true Southerner.
But it was still a really good movie in spite of this.

Beautiful movie of life and nature

Verified purchase

This movie was brilliant and comes with a mix of emotions throughout, a must see. A story of one woman’s willpower to survive all the challenges life throws at her, people letting her down, learning to survive on her own. Many see where she lives as a dirty swamp, yet all she sees is the beauty of nature and all its creatures waiting to be explored. She endures and turns her passion into success with a beautiful ending, and also a twist at the end. Loved this movie.

Powerful

This might be the best movie I have seen in years. It’s a cautionary tale about how we fail each other, and I cheered for her, the entire time. After watching this, I hope you take an inventory of your life and values, and if you can’t say you would stand up for the outcast, the underdog, and the stigmatized, I hope you re-evaluate your priorities.

AWESOME

August 2018, I read the book Where The Crawdads Sing.
Today, the DVD was officially released and I received it.
AWESOME screen adaption from the book plus special features segments.
Growing up in the South, rising above how you were treated as a child by "family" and community gossip.
Ms. Lucy Alibar did a fantastic job adapting Ms. Delia Owens book to the screen. Thank you to Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Levy Neustadter and Olivia Newman for producing and directing.
If you haven't read the book - I highly recommend it. Then, watch the movie.

One of the best movie we’ve seen in a long time!

I wasn’t sure what to expect after hearing all the hype around this awesome book being made into film. For a two and a half hour film, the family was blown away on how the movie captivated you into the story. Love, loss, life struggles, loneliness, finding ones self and following ones heart… the roller coaster of emotions. Wow! Just wow! Truly one of the best movies we have seen in a long time!
