Where do I park for MGH Wang building?

Parking at MGH: Patients may park all day for a maximum cost of $14.00 at the MGH garages – Parkman, Fruit or Yawkey. It is approximately a 12-15 minute walk to the BHI. To walk to the office, go out to Cambridge Street and turn left. Continue on Cambridge Street until you reach Staniford Street. Take a left onto Staniford Street and proceed to Merrimac Street. Our building is almost directly in front of you at the intersections of Staniford, Causeway and Merrimac Streets. If you prefer not to walk, you may utilize the free hospital Patient Shuttle service.

Please enter through the lobby with no security guard (to the left of the CVS), then take the elevator to the second floor. Our office is through the doors to the left.

To the Simches Research Building by MBTA:

Red Line (Charles/MGH): Use the exit in the T-station that says “Toward Hospitals.” When you exit the station, you will be on Cambridge Street. Turn right and walk about 4 blocks up Cambridge Street past the main entrance to the hospital. The entrance to Charles River Plaza will be on your left-hand side, shortly after passing Blossom Street.

Blue Line (Bowdoin): Exit the station on Cambridge Street and walk away from Government Center. Shortly after you pass Staniford Street on your right, you will come to the Charles River Plaza on your right-hand side.

Orange Line/Green Line (North Station): Exit the station and take a right on Causeway Street. As you walk down Causeway Street, keep the TD Banknorth Garden on your right. When you reach the intersection, cross the street onto Staniford Street. At the end of Staniford, take a right onto Cambridge Street. You will come to the Charles River Plaza on your right-hand side.

To the Simches Research Building By Car:

From the West: Via the Mass Turnpike (I-90), take the Cambridge/Allston exit (Exit 18). Bear right after the tollbooth towards Cambridge. Turn right at the first set of lights onto Storrow Drive (Route 3). After approximately 3 miles, take the Government Center exit on your right. Follow the signs to Downtown and Government Center, and proceed straight up Cambridge Street. At the first set of lights, take a left onto North Grove Street and park in the Fruit Street or Parkman Street Garages (on either side of the road near the main entrance of the hospital). Follow walking directions detailed below.

From the North: Via Route 93 or Route 1, take the Storrow Drive exit and proceed along the Charles River for 100 yards, getting into the left lane. Take the Government Center exit off Storrow Drive. Follow the signs to Downtown and Government Center, and proceed straight up Cambridge Street. At the first set of lights, take a left onto North Grove Street and park in the Fruit Street or Parkman Street Garages (on either side of the road near the main entrance of the hospital). Follow walking directions detailed below.

From the South: Via Route 93/3 North (Southeast Expressway), take the Storrow Drive exit and proceed along the Charles River, getting into the left lane. Take the Government Center exit off Storrow Drive. Follow the signs to Downtown and Government Center, and proceed straight up Cambridge Street. At the first set of lights, take a left onto North Grove Street and park in the Fruit Street or Parkman Street Garages (on either side of the road near the main entrance of the hospital). Follow walking directions detailed below.

Parking:

Park in the Fruit Street or Parkman Street Garage near the main MGH hospital building. Walk up North Grove Street, away from the hospital entrance, and take a left onto Cambridge Street. Walk about 4 blocks up Cambridge Street passing Blossom Street and the Wyndham. The entrance to Charles River Plaza will be on your left.

FROM THE NORTH

Via I-93 and the Leverett Connector

Take I-93 South to exit 18 (Storrow Drive/Cambridge) (old exit 26). Stay in left lane and follow signs for Storrow Drive. Take Storrow Drive west to Government Center exit (on left). At end of ramp, at the flashing light yield to oncoming traffic and then cross over the road and make a left to take Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge to the next light. At light take left onto North Grove. You will see the main entrance of the hospital and the emergency room at the end of the street.

To get to the Yawkey Center and Yawkey garage, take left onto Fruit Street. The driveway leading to the Yawkey Center entrance and garage will be on your left. Follow signs to the ramp entrance for the Yawkey garage. There is also valet parking service.

FROM THE SOUTH

Via I-93 and Storrow Drive

Take I-93 North to exit 18 (Storrow Drive) (old exit 26). Stay in right lane and follow directions to Storrow Drive. Take Storrow Drive west to Government Center exit (on left). At end of ramp, at the flashing light yield to oncoming traffic, then cross over the road and make a left to take Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge to the next light. At light take a left onto North Grove. You will see the main entrance of the hospital and the emergency room at the end of the street.

FROM THE WEST

Via the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) and Storrow Drive

Take I-90 East to exit 131 (Brighton/Cambridge) (old exit 18). Follow signs for Cambridge and Somerville, and turn right onto Storrow Drive east. Follow Storrow Drive to Government Center exit. Follow signs that say Downtown/Government Center and get onto Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge Street to the next light. At this light take a left onto North Grove. You will see the main entrance of the hospital and the emergency room at the end of the street.

Via the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) and I-93

Take the Turnpike I-90 East to exit 134B (I-93 North) (old exit 24B). Take I-93 North to exit 18 (Storrow Drive) (old exit 26). Stay in right lane and follow directions to Storrow Drive. Take Storrow Drive to the Government Center exit. Follow signs that say Downtown/ Government Center and get onto Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge Street to the next light. FROM THE EAST

Via I-90 and the Ted Williams Tunnel

Take I-90 West through Ted Williams Tunnel and continue to exit 134B (I-93 North) (old exit 24B). Take I-93 North to exit 18 (Storrow Drive) (old exit 26). Stay in right lane and follow signs to Storrow Drive. Take Storrow Drive west to Government Center exit (on left). At end of ramp, at the flashing light yield to oncoming traffic, then cross over the road and make a left to take Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge to the next light. At the light take a left onto North Grove. You will see the main entrance of the hospital and the emergency room at the end of the street.

Via Route 1A and the Sumner Tunnel

Take Route 1A South through Sumner Tunnel. Stay in right lane and follow signs to Storrow Drive. Take Storrow Drive west to exit for Government Center (on left). At end of ramp, at the flashing light yield to oncoming traffic, then cross over the road and make a left to take Cambridge Street. Stay on Cambridge to the next light. At the light take a left onto North Grove. You will see the main entrance of the hospital and the emergency room at the end of the street.

To get to the Yawkey Center and Yawkey garage, take left onto Fruit Street. The driveway leading to the Yawkey Center entrance and garage will be on your left. Follow signs to the ramp entrance for the Yawkey garage. There is also valet parking service.

VIA SUBWAY (“T” or MBTA)

Charles Street/MGH Station

The Charles Street/MGH station on the Red line is the closest T-stop. The hospital is across the street from the station. Follow signs to MGH parking.

We offer several parking options, including garages beneath the Yawkey Center, on Fruit Street and on Parkman Street. Valet parking is available for a fee in front of the Cox Building, Yawkey Center and the Wang Ambulatory Care Center. If your appointment is in the Yawkey Center, it is most convenient to park in the Yawkey garage.

Patients and their visitors are eligible for reduced parking rates in the Fruit Street, Parkman Street, Yawkey Center and Charles River Plaza parking garages. These parking garages offer free parking for patients and visitors up to 25 minutes and a reduced rate for a longer stay.

Shuttle Service

Visitors can get around the Mass General campus by using the free shuttle that travels between buildings, including the Cox Building, Jackson Building and the Yawkey Center. Shuttle schedules and locations are available at the information desk in the main hospital lobby and the Yawkey Center lobby. If you need a wheelchair or any assistance traveling between buildings, please ask our staff or volunteers.

How do you validate parking at MGH?

Parking tickets are validated at the cashier in the central payment office located on the ground floor lobby of each garage. Note: There are no cashiers at the garage exits.

Does Mass General have free parking?

Free or discounted parking is available at most Mass General locations.

Is there valet parking at Mass General Hospital?

Valet parking for main campus patients and their visitors is available at both the Wang Ambulatory Care Center (ACC) Lobby and at the Yawkey Center.

How much is parking at Mass General?

Rates for MGH patients & visitors: 0-1 hour - $13.00, 1-2 hours - $14.00, 2-4 hours - $15.00, 4-24 hours - $18.00.
