Where does High school DxD leave off in the manga

I’m noticing a trend that ecchi anime adaptations are usually not so well received by the fans of the original source material. At least it is not a Rosario + Vampire affair where the ecchi was added into the anime.

Anyway, if you watched all four seasons of the High School DxD anime, the short answer is you can pickup the light novels at Novel 11. The longer answer is that you should go back and read Novel 5 through 7. The first two seasons are pretty good adaptations, but the thirds season completely flubs a crucial moment in the series, which is what Novels 5 through 8 covers.

There is also a manga in case you need to visualize the “plot,” but unfortunately it adapts like the first five light novels and then stops, so if you watched the anime, not much point in reading it.
