Where is chat settings in Valorant?

If you don’t have access to a microphone, All Chat and Team Chat are vitally important in VALORANT. The ability to communicate accurate information to your team can be the difference between winning and losing the round. Fortunately, using the chat functions in VALORANT is easy.

Accessing Team Chat is very simple. It can help your teammates understand certain situations or allow for discussion while another teammate is attempting to clutch a round. To open the team chat function, just hit “Enter” on your keyboard.

How to All Chat in VALORANT

Using All Chat has a significantly smaller functional use than Team Chat. It’s used primarily to trash talk your opponents, and has very little function outside of that. You could ask the opponent who killed you what their HP was at or maybe try and tilt the other team, but good luck actually using the feature. You use All Chat by holding “Shift” before pressing “Enter”.

All in all, the chat functions are nice to have, but ultimately unnecessary if you have a mic. It’s nice to know how to use the chat functions in VALORANT, but good voice comms will beat out text any day of the week. If you’re stuck with the chat feature, though, it’s good to know how to use it.

Valorant is a first-person, team-based shooter created by Riot Games. Two teams of five take turns between attacking and defending sites across various maps, and a huge part of this is communication. While you will primarily talk to your team to strategise how to secure a win, sometimes talking to the opposing team — be it trash talk or commendations — feels necessary too.

In this guide, we explain how to talk in both team chat and all chat.

How to Talk in Team Chat

First and foremost, you can find all of your voice communications settings within your menu. When talking to your team, using voice communications is the quicker way of getting a message across than having to pause to type. The default push-to-talk keybind is 'V', but you can change this in your menu to whichever key suits you.

If you're not a fan of using voice communications for whatever reason, you can also turn them off entirely from your menu and use text in team chat instead. To do this, simply press 'Enter' while in game, and press 'Enter' again to send a message to your teammates.

How to Talk in All Chat

There's no way to communicate with the opposing team via voice communications, for obvious reasons. However, you can talk to them using text in all chat. To access this, there is a simple keyboard shortcut. To communicate with everyone rather than just your team, press 'Enter' and 'Shift' at the same time. Type your message, press 'Enter' again, and all ten players in the lobby will be able to see your message.

That's all you need to know about communicating with your own team and the opposing team in Valorant. If you're new to Valorant, we recommend making sure your customisation options in the game are perfected before trying out any competitive games. Check out how to change the colours of your text chat, how to customise your crosshair, and how to change the sensitivity of your mouse. Then, after some time in the practice range, you'll be good to go.

One of the most prominent elements of Valorant as a multiplayer game and eSport is the ability to team chat and all chat in the server, but how do you do it?

The dedicated text-based chat system beyond the voice chat feature is an extremely important way to communicate with other players in the game to negotiate tactical choices and teamplay decisions.

Here’s everything you need to know about communicating with your team and every player on the server in Valorant.

New players to Valorant might find the system confusing, as you can swap between Team and All modes using the same chatbox.

This involves switching using shortcut keys, so for new players, there is a lot to take in and memorise to ensure you’re telling the right players the right thing.

How to Team Chat in Valorant

  • First off, it is worth knowing that the chat box defaults to the bottom left of the screen when you’re playing Valorant
  • Speaking to your teammates during a match is the easiest of the two modes, as it is the default chat mode in the game.
  • To send messages to your Team, press Enter followed by your message inside any game mode
  • It is worth noting that the chat box will have the word ‘Team’ as a prefix to every message you send only to your teammates during a match

How to All Chat in Valorant

  • Enter any game mode in Valorant
  • After the map has loaded, press Shift + Enter or type /all in Team mode to change the chat mode from Team to All
  • You can confirm that the mode has changed by looking at the prefix of your message, as it should now read ‘All’
  • If you can see that the mode has clearly changed, then write in your message and hit Enter to send

It is obviously worth remembering to not hassle or be abusive to other players in the chat box or in voice chat, as Riot Games reserves the right to issue temporary or permanent bans to players if they do not conduct themselves in a proper manner.
