It’s safe to proclaim Megan Gebbia has wasted little time.

She capitalized on the strengths at Wake Forest and secured a top-25 recruiting class for 2023, according to rankings from ESPN.

From ESPN’s article on the top-25 classes:

“Megan Gebbia took over at Wake Forest in May and sees her recruiting efforts pay off with a top-25 caliber class. Jordan has a fundamental stroke all the way out to the 3-point line and a slashing ability to complement that. No. 85 Rylie Theuerkauf has some serious range well beyond the arc and had a stock-rising summer with Exodus (New York).”

Here’s the full release with all the details from Wake Forest Athletic Communications:

Gebbia Signs Top Talent in First Class

In Madisyn Jordan, Makaela Quimby and Rylie Theuerkauf, the Demon Deacons signed some of the best talent in the country.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest women's basketball team announced the addition of three players during National Signing Day on Wednesday, marking the first official signing class for head coach Megan Gebbia.

In Madisyn Jordan, Makaela Quimby and Rylie Theuerkauf, the Demon Deacons signed some of the best talent in the country.

This marks the first time since the 2014 class that the Deacs have signed multiple top-100 players in the same class and just the second time in the ESPNW era. Additionally, ESPN ranked the Demon Deacons class as one of the top-25 in the country.

"I am thrilled to announce the signing of our 2023 recruiting class," Coach Gebbia said. "I believe we have found three players that will be difference makers in the future of our program. They all come from a winning pedigree and have been ranked nationally in the top 100. It was important in our first year to bring in players that will complement the existing team and be the right fit for Wake Forest. With the addition of Mak, Rylie and Madisyn we feel great about that accomplishment."

With the three signees, the Deacs will look to bolster their backcourt and wing positions for future seasons. All three players have had a plethora of high-level basketball experience at the high school and AAU level.

Jordan currently ranks as the No. 67 player nationally according to the latest ESPNW rankings, making her the highest-ranked signee since Raegyn Conley at No. 60 in 2021. The sharpshooter led all of 4A in North Carolina for 3-point field goals.

Quimby rated as high as the top 30 in the Blue Star rankings and has been one of the higher ranked players in the class throughout her high school career. Additionally, she has played at the highest level of AAU throughout her high school career.

Theuerkauf is an elite scorer and ranked as the No. 85 player in the nation by ESPNW and additionally is the No. 29 guard in the country. She goes into her senior season with 1,796 career high school points, averaging more than 30 points per game over her last two seasons.

Why Wake Forest

"I chose Wake Forest because it was the best place for me. I had a great connection with the players and coaches. It's a wonderful opportunity to be able to play ball for a great program in the ACC. The biggest thing, aside from what the basketball program has to offer, is that I love the business school at Wake Forest, and it was not an opportunity I could not pass up. Location was never a huge thing for me when making my decision, but with it being in North Carolina, only an hour away from home, that is a huge bonus, meaning I will be able to see my family, and they will be able to see me easily." - Madisyn Jordan

From Coach Gebbia

"Madisyn is a very long and versatile wing that will also play the 4-position for us. She has a terrific work ethic and one of the quickest shots I have seen all summer. She has the ability to be a mismatch nightmare for other teams due to her size, length and skill set. Her versatility will allow us to move her around based on the opponent and we cannot wait to take advantage of her athleticism as she learns our system."

Why Wake Forest

"I knew immediately after my first visit to Wake Forest that this was the school for me. Stepping onto the beautiful campus, taking in the sights at Wait Chapel, and meeting with my future coaches made me realize that Wake Forest is where I'm meant to be. Wake Forest reminds me of my high school campus, McDonogh School, which I have enjoyed tremendously. Wake Forest's exceptional academics provides the opportunity to explore a versatile curriculum within each major and that was a big win for me, as I am interested in pursuing a degree in Sociology. Wake Forest has built a unique reputation for excellence on and off the court, and that is something I want to be a part of. Getting to know the coaching staff put the icing on the cake for me. The women's basketball program at Wake Forest embodies positivity, excellence, teamwork, and a will to win. Talking with each member of the team and staff opened my eyes to how much everyone loves the school and I can't wait to be a part of this new chapter for the women's basketball program."

From Coach Gebbia

"What I love about Mak is her ability to affect the game in different ways," Coach Gebbia said. "She is a leader, she is a scorer and she is in the gym always working to elevate her game. Mak loves to play both ends of the floor and she will do what is asked of her in order to help the team win. Her ability to make a play in a crucial time of the game will help our team in tight situations."
