Who is skyward pride good for Reddit

This is the official community for Genshin Impact (原神), the latest open-world action RPG from HoYoverse. The game features a massive, gorgeous map, an elaborate elemental combat system, engaging storyline & characters, co-op game mode, soothing soundtrack, and much more for you to explore!

My choice list would be

  1. Chongyun. There's probably some bias here because I am a Chongyun main, but he's still one of the best for this particular weapon in my opinion. The big reason for this is because of how this weapon interacts with him.

At 40 energy cost, Chongyun has a very low energy cost. He often works with the team as a ult spammer thanks to this and his constellations which at c4 really ramps up his energy generation and at c6 which gives his ult a fourth blade which really ramps up his already high nova damage. Not only does this increase all of his damage, including ult damage, but it then gives him the vacuum blades to increase his melee damage. This is BiS for him as far as I'm concerned.

2. Diluc. Much like Chongyun, he has 40 energy cost on his ult, making it so he spams it a lot. This is followed up by the ult secondary effect which infused his weapon with Pyro. The weapon would give him extra damage in the form of vacuum blades during this time. I feel his best weapon is more in line with Wolf's Gravestone, but there's no guarantee that you'll get it and this is still a five star weapon for extra damage.

3. Beidou. It's secondary stat is energy recharge, which helps because of her high ult cost, which is one of her biggest issues. It's a five star weapon, giving her extra damage to help make up for the weapon's secondary stat not helping to bolster the stat.

If you're ever in the market for claymore characters who are really Energy hungry (eg; Eula, Sayu) or deal Physical DMG as DPS (eg; Eula or Xinyan) then it makes a decent weapon on them as a substitute for whatever may be considered their best in slot, and is a good stat stick on anyone else.

Even if you don't use them now, you never know when you will, so rule of thumb, "Never refine 5* weapons unless you're a whale who can afford more of them"

As a Diluc player who uses the Skyward Pride on him, here's my take:

Even though the energy recharge does not look great, the weapon has one of the highest base attacks in the game. When your weapon is not active it is comparable to prototype animus r1 with its effects. Compare that to the Wolf's Gravestone and it's not great but this is just the inactive form.

Diluc is able to spam Q very easily when you play him meaning that you can easily enter the active state of skyward pride. During the active state, which is the vacuum blade effects, it has the second strongest combo damage out of all the claymores (first being the active state of wolf's gravestone which is harder to achieve). This means more combo damage than Serpent spine at 5 active stacks, prototype animus r5, and Wolf's Gravestone R1 inactive. The recharge makes it even easier to use Q which basically means he has high uptime on this weapon effect.

Wolf's gravestone allows Diluc to be more flexible as it's inactive form deals more damage than almost all the 4* claymores at r5, you don't need to keep him on the field to gain the maximum effect of his weapon, and his active form not only works on your Diluc but your whole party.

A few interesting things you should know about the Skyward Pride is that:

  1. The vacuum blade can crit

  2. vacuum blade can extend the range of his normal attacks

  3. vacuum blade is not affected by the pyro damage bonus and it only scales off Diluc's attack (I'm not sure what is the math on this but this could give wolf's gravestone an edge in terms of average dps)

Overall, it is still one of the best claymores on Diluc because of how well he can use the weapon's effect to its full potential. Only replace it with Wolf's Gravestone if you have to as the weapon leveling cost is crazy. Serpent Spine is not an upgrade as it does lower damage than the inactive form of Skyward Pride at 1 stack and at 5 stacks it doesn't even compare to the dps put out by the Pride's active effect. So keep it on Diluc.

Who should I put Skyward Pride on?

The Skyward pride is a good weapon for characters who only need a small amount of Energy Recharge for their Elemental Burst. It's best used for Sub-DPS and Main DPS characters. However, Main DPS need to keep in mind that using this weapon means trading DMG for more Energy.

Is Skyward Pride good for Beidou?

The Wolf's Gravestone boosts ATK so much that it makes Beidou a powerhouse, while the Skyward Pride boosts elemental attacks, making Beidou's ability to easily spread Electro even more useful. Combine the Skyward Pride with some elemental combination attacks, and you've got a recipe for success.

Is Skyward Pride good on Sayu?

Skyward Pride is a stellar option for Sayu as it increases DMG and adds a vacuum blade effect that deals extra DMG to opponents in its path. If you don't have the elusive weapon, though, don't fret!

Is the Skyward Pride good for Diluc?

If you're a whale and have a bunch of both, then use Skyward Pride on Diluc. If you're limited and you also have other claymore users, then use Wolf's Gravestone on Diluc and put Skyward Pride on the other claymore user. If you're f2p, got lucky, and only pulled one claymore, then you take what you can get.
