Who will hamdan i end up with

Ham Dan-I is the main protagonist of the webcomic Inso's Law.

On the first day of her middle school life, she finds herself in the world of a web novel, where she is the plain childhood best friend and neighbor of the beautiful Ban Yeoryeong. Despite her persisting disbelief, she follows Yeoryeong to Ji Jon Middle School, where she meets the Four Heavenly Kings of Ji Jon. Over time, she becomes actual friends with Ban Yeoryeong and the Four Heavenly Kings.

Appearance[]

Who will hamdan i end up with

A first look at Ham Dan-I.

Dan-I has short, bob cut hair with it's light brown color and light brown eyes. At the beginning of the story, her coloring was much darker, i.e. "normal". Her coloring gets progressively lighter the longer she is in the web novel world.

Ham Dan-I typically wears casual clothing such as hoodies, shorts, sweatpants and t-shirts. She doesn't wear anything too girly, and doesn't often style herself because of her mindset for only being a "side" character.

Personality[]

Dan-I is somewhat dense, mostly due to her strong belief that she is plain and uninteresting, especially in comparison to her more beautiful and accomplished friends. She is a strong and compassionate person, but often struggles with feelings of jealousy, fear and anxiety, because of her belief that she is lesser than and undeserving of her friends. She is also anxious about the fact that she doesn't belong in the world of the web novel that she now exists in.

Due to also believing that her friends are main characters in a web novel while she is a supporting role, Dan-I often sees herself as an outsider. Another factor is that she fears returning to the “real world”, while her friends forget her. As a result, she keeps her problems and anxieties to herself, despite her friends asking her to confide in them.

Relationships[]

Dan-I's Parents[]

Dan-I has a normal relationship with her parents. They are the only constants, whether she is in the "real world" or the "web novel world". In the "web novel world", they often compare Dan-I's grades to Yeo-Ryeong and scold her for not doing as well. But they soon realize their mistakes and apologize. They have a very accepting and caring attitude towards Dan-I's friends, and often invite them over to the house. Dan-I's father thinks his daughter is blessed for having so many rich and handsome friends, and often makes jokes about Dan-I dating or marrying some of them (e.g. Chun-young or Ru-da or Eun jiho).

Ban Yeo-Ryeong[]

Although Dan-I only knows Ban Yeo-Ryeong from the first day of middle school when she enters the world, 'in-character' she and Yeo-Ryeong were childhood best friends, having grown up together. She is Yeo-Ryeong's only female friends and closest friend. Despite feeling inferior to her and sometimes jealous herself, Dan-I treasures Yeo-Ryeong and genuinely loves her. She always tries to protect Yeo-Ryeong from being hurt by others; she also keeps Yeo-Ryeong from going off the handle when she is pissed or angry.

Woo Ju-in[]

Dan-I is platonically closest to Woo Ju-in, among the Four Heavenly Kings. He calls her Mom and she calls him her son or puppy. When Dan-i disappears from the web novel world in Chapter 24, it is Ju-in who realizes that she's missing and finds her. Ju-in is also the first to notice that there is something different about Dan-I.

Like Yeo-Ryeong, Ju-in is very protective over Dan-i, but—unlike Yeo-Ryeong’s blunt and open defensiveness towards Dan-I, Ju-in ends up dealing with any problems she face through sneaky and manipulative strategies (e.g. the Yuri arc).

Eun Ji-ho[]

Eun Ji-ho is possibly the first to be intrigued by Dan-I, and didn't like her at first. He notices her because of her coldness to Yeo-Ryeong and how Dan-I treats him like he doesn’t matter even when he’s rude to her. He learns more about Dan-I overtime and begins to like her. Ji-ho and Dan-I are also close friends; Dan-I confides in him when she wants to be ignored in high school, and he promises to honor her wishes (despite her backtracking later). Ji-ho was indirectly rejected by Dan-I in the final year of middle school, but continues to have feelings for her. It is also said that he spent the most time with her, as he visited her house nearly as much as Yeo-Ryeong in their second year of high school.

Yoo Chun-young[]

Yoo Chun-young is perhaps the first of the Four Heavenly Kings that Dan-I befriends on a one-on-one basis. In middle school, they would listen to music during lunch together, having shared interests. Chun-young eventually develops feelings for Dan-I, but is warned by Ji-ho of her standoffish and insecure personality. He tries to confess in Chapter 81.

It is mentioned that among the group, him and Dan-I fight the most.

Kwon Eun-hyung[]

Eun-hyung is seen to be the calm and responsible one of the group, and is referred to by Woo Ju-in as the mother of the family and sees Ham Dan-I as a little sister. It is said by Ji-ho that Eun-hyung is second to none when it comes to cherishing Dan-I in the 44th chapter of the novel.

Lee Ru-Da[]

Among the students in Dan-I's high school class, Ru-da is the most involved student with Dan-I and the story. In their first encounter, Dan-I suggests the idea that Ru-da was the female crossdresser that was sometimes in other web novels due to their looks that couldn't possibly belong to that of a male student. Ru-da also probably has feelings for Dan-I. He seems aware of the dislike Dan-I's friends have towards him, but flirts with her anyway—probably with the bonus of riling them up.

Ham Dan-Woo[]

Dan-I has an older brother whose name is Ham Dan-Woo. Her brother is rarely seen because he works as a teacher in Busan City. His existence is somewhat of a plot hole because it’s mentioned in a certain chapter that the reason Dan-I’s parents compare her to Yeo-Ryeong is because she’s their first and only child.

Trivia[]

  • Dan-I strongly believes in the saying "Ignorance is Bliss".

Does Yeo Dan like Dan?

With the struggles they both faced, unfortunately, they broke up. Yeo-dan ended their love thinking he might drive Dan-I into a toxic relationship, isolating her from her friends. Yeo-dan really was in love with Dan-I, but he had to do what's best for her, thus the break up.

Is Lee Ru Da a boy?

Lee Ru-da is a Korean-American transfer student in Ham Dan-I's class, in his first year of high school. Because of his astonishingly pretty looks and light build, Dan-I believes he is a girl in disguise, according to web novel tropes.
