Stella Rosa Moscato review: Which food pairs well with it?

Stella Rosa Moscato is a sweet wine and as such, it pairs well with spicy food.

Classic appetizers are salami, figs, goat cheese ravioli, and melon to name some.

Meat wise go for Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian dishes for example.

If you like fish, it pairs well with clams and oysters.

If you are a cheese lover our recommendations for you are fondue, medium, and hard cheeses like Cheddar and Parmigiano.

For dessert, it pairs well with fruit tart, sponge cake, panettone, and dried fruit.

Stella Rosa Moscato review: What's its alcohol content?

Stella Rosa Moscato wine’s alcohol content is 5%.

In case you wonder about alcohol content or more precisely Alcohol By Volume, i.e. ABV, measure the alcoholic strength of a drink.

There is a direct relationship between the sugar left in the wine after the alcoholic fermentation has taken place, i.e. Residual Sugar or RS, and ABV.

During alcoholic fermentation, the yeast transforms the sugar in the grape juice into alcohol.

Grapes with high residual sugar will therefore produce dry wine with a high ABV.

How many calories are in a glass of Stella Rosa Moscato wine?

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture [1] a 5-ounce glass will contain about 120 to 130 calories.

Alcohol contains 7 calories per gram. So a wine with high ABV will have a higher calories per glass than a wine with low ABV.

Furthermore, sugar contributes to the calorie count.

A dry wine will usually have 4 calories per gram vs a sweet wine that will have around 20 calories per gram of carbs, which include sugar.

Since Moscato is a sweet wine expect more than 130 calories per 5-ounce glass.

What is Stella Rosa?

Here is an extract from the Stella Rosa website:

“Born through a rich legacy, Stella Rosa remains at the forefront of innovation.

Stella Rosa is not just about producing award-winning semi-sweet, semi-sparkling Italian wines;

it’s about evolving with the spirit of the times when it comes to wine trends and popular culture.

The brand is always growing, learning, and striving to satisfy its loyalists’ needs while pushing the level of sophistication…

…to also appeal to dry wine aficionados looking for something a little different.

Stella Rosa is more than just a refreshing wine; it’s a lifestyle.“

Conclusion

This is a sweet and luscious bottle of Moscato that for roughly ~$13 offers a good value for your money.

Pear, peach, apricot, and honey flavors will complement many dishes from veggie, salami, spicy dishes, fish, cheese, and dessert.

Try it with goat cheese ravioli, Thai cuisine, clams, fondue, or panettone and it’ll be a delight. At least it was for me!
