Movie Info

Once the night guard at the Museum of Natural History, Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is now a successful purveyor of infomercial products. Soon after learning that his museum friends have been shipped to the Smithsonian Institution, Larry receives a distress call from Jedediah, who warns him that four of history's greatest villains have come to life and are planning to take over the Smithsonian first, then the world. Larry joins forces with friends old and new to stop the quartet's nefarious plans.

  Making all the mistakes of a sequel, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian goes too far and becomes a big dumb mess. The adventure continues as New York's museum exhibits are shipped to the Smithsonian, where Kahmunrah is brought to life and attempts to use the magic tablet to open the Gate of the Underworld, but Larry Daley comes to the rescue when his friends call for help. Most of the original cast return and are joined by Amy Adams, Hank Azaria, and Bill Hader. Unfortunately going bigger with museum pieces coming to life just makes the film seem that much more ridiculous and harder to go with. The same goes for the characters, there are too many and they're too diverse: from Kahmunrah to Gen. Custer to Einstein. Still, this creates the opportunity for a lot of mismatched comedy bits that deliver some good laughs. While it has some entertaining moments, Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian is just too busy and chaotic.

  Sequel to Night of the Museum is a mediocre attempt at capturing the essence of the original. Although the first was never anything great, I found it quite amusing in some areas, but in others the film fell apart. That is mostly the case with sequels, they try to amp up the stakes, and in turn, they fail to capture what was truly engaging from the original. This is a mediocre sequel, one that should have been much better than what we got. Although the original was never anything great, or highly memorable, it was a fun film to enjoy with the family. This on the other hand is a tiresome, uninspired film that wastes its potential. The jokes here are bland and there is never anything interesting to really make this film worth your time. I really was disappointed with this film, but I much preferred the original. Even if the first wasn't perfect, it was a fun and highly entertaining film worth seeing. Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian has a few laughs here and there, but never anything substantial to make this a worthwhile family film. This isn't an awful film, but this is more like a movie that needed more work than anything else. The ideas were there, but the script, I felt was underdeveloped and needed work to make this sequel standout. As it is, this is quite forgettable, and is worth only seeing once, and I think it's a shame because there were parts here that worked, and given a rewrite or two, this sequel would surely have been lots of fun. However it ends up being a mediocre, tiresome affair that leaves a lot to be desired.

  Slapstick comedy that has no business being their makes this kids only. Even some kids might not like it. I would like to start off by saying that this has some really bad acting. Ben Stiller was okay but that guy that played the pharaoh was horrible. Bad tone of voice, bad facial features, and bad body language. Usually actors only have one area in which they have to work on. The rest of the actors where okay. The direction was really messy and non professional. But it's for kids so I'll give them that. The writing was messy as well. Most of the dialogue did not contribute to the overall story and plot. It was added just for comic relief and it wasn't that funny. The best and only good part was of course the production. Very good production values. If it wasn't for the production values this would have gotten one star. That extra star is for the astonishing production. The special effects are really good. Especially the T-Rex. My favorite character was Al Capone. I did find it a little funny how he was in black and white. If you like history or films that are just thrown together then you would like this.
