I bought this game on PC and cannot go 5 to 10 minutes without this message booting me to menu, it's extremely disruptive and is making the game borderline unplayable. Upon researching for 30-minutes or so this seems to go back to last years console launch and "If you have it you're fucked." Is there really no solution? It's driving me insane, thanks.

Been happening to me ever since launch, extremely frustrating especially when you're about to complete a mission. I have also followed the Process Lasso guide and that fixed the stuterring/freezing, however still getting the disconnects from Rockstar. Granted not as much.

My 2 cents in this is that GTA online had the same problem. Im pretty sure both GTA online and RDR2 have a peer 2 peer connection. That is, you only talk to a rockstar server when using cash/gold, or when recieving mission rewards, etc. Yet for gameplay you just talk with the other players through peer2peer on your session. Problem is most players are not from the US, so ping and packet loss gets worse when lots of people on your session have spotty internet. What happened then in GTA online? yeah well you just got disconnected from those players and found yourself in a solo session, The thing is that RD online has several freeroam missions that can be farmed easily if you are in a solo session since the idea of them is for others to try to steal them from you. Since lots of people "abused of the connection system on GTA online" (rockstars didnt like it that people made solo sessions) they upped the threshold on disconnections and didnt implement a solo session, meaning that if your peers on the session lost connection with you, you are going back to menu. Thats why rockstars is so defensive and telling people that its the users problem and not theirs, because they dont wont people abusing solo sessions.

Again, this is my 2 cents on the problem.

This actually makes some sense. My problem for the past month is that anytime i try a mission in RDO that involves other players, like a pvp match or even the story missions...I rarely can finish them without getting disconnected. 0x21002001 is my bane.

I can roam the free roam world for 4+ hours and hunt and run trader missions with zero problem, but the minute I join a pvp match...boom disconnected.

Nothing I have tried has worked either with all of the various router settings.

Now this makes allot of sense, after playing GTA online for a long time I started noticing that I was constantly getting disconnected until I ended up in a session with 10 other Icelandic guys.

Here's the odd thing though.

No disconnect problems at all until I got dumped into what I'll call here "real online" with other people in it once I finished the intro mission.

Connection held steady until I quit of my own volition after like 4 hours of play, then when I came back to play later, can't get more than 15 minutes without this bullshit happening.

Anyone that's reading this give a VPN a shot. I literally tried EVERYTHING else and I was finally able to play for more than 10min last night using a VPN. It makes no sense to me because I have good internet but I was able to play for 2hrs without a disconnect.

I've been using ExpressVPN forever now and it still won't let me get past 1 minute of character creation :/

Question. Does anyone with a good connection (less than 150 ping with no spikes) on the US have disconnections? Im from Argentina and its really weird that when I use a vpn (which generally lowers ping where you get into) and set it up on a US server, all my disconnection problems dissapear completly. My guess is that when you have bad connection (spikes) or are from other countries outside the US you get disconnected just because your ping is higher than a certain threshold (setted up by rockstars). Other possibility is that since the game is peer 2 peer in my opinion, if you have more than 200 ping to the "leader of the session" or your average ping to all other players in session gets higher than certain threshold (like 200 ping or so) then you get disconnected from session instantly.

Dude i play on ps4 and i get these problems a lot for some reason, and its really rare for me to have a ping higher than 30 on any game.

I fixed it instantly by going into my router and deleting the UPNP for red dead. works.

I’ve played this game since the beta and felt this game would be an amazing one. And It would!!! If it doesn’t keep getting disconnected😱😱😱 C’mon rockstar do sth about it 🙏 I’m sure Rockstar people are well aware of this issue.. Its been almost a year and STILL happening to many RDR2 buyers and oh no not just me .. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT !!

This is so frustrating. This happens to me almost every time I start a mission, finish a mission, and at any other random time. It took me days to get through the first freaking mission, Honor Among Horse Thieves, because I couldn't even get through it without being disconnected. This game is so beautiful, and I love every aspect of the gameplay, but this stupid issue that they seem to be refusing to fix, ruins it

Are you one of the people on PC with the stutters where your game freezes for ~5 seconds every 10-15 minutes?

Those stutters caused the issue for me and once I got setup with Process Lasso it stopped.

Yeah same here, I usually get disconnected after a freeze although I've not tried the process lasso thing so maybe I should look into that to see if I can stop the stuttering

I'd just like to say that I also have this issue. I never had a stuttering problem and story runs fine with no crashes, but I constantly disconnect from the game. So far I've tried putting my pc on a dmz with firewall disabled and used project lasso as well. I don't have this issue with gtav so I think it must be Rockstar servers. I live in Ft smith arkansas, maybe it's a geographical thing?

Edit my hardware is 8700k, 16gb 3300 ram, evga 1070.
