I have tried Roku streaming devices as well as Amazon Firestick devices, both have the lip sync problem with Vizio Smartcast TVs. None of my other Vizio TVs have this problem. On the Smartcast TV, I have to switch from the streaming devices to the smartcast mode, log into a channel, let the channel load and play for about 30-60 seconds. Then change input back to one of the streaming devices; then they work as they should, for a while.

While Vizio has released some versatile technology, its TV options have been frequently reported for audio issues.

If you looked for “Vizio Lip Sync” on your browser’s search bar, don’t be surprised by the volume of results you get.

Unless you are watching a badly dubbed pirated copy of your favorite anime, you don’t have to put up with it for long.

We have put together a few solutions for typical technical difficulties most users face with Vizio.

Don’t worry! These actually work.

Vizio Lip Sync Problems: What’s to Blame?

A Vizio audio delay may be partly due to its technological ambitions. When we say ambitions, we mean Vizio’s TruSurround HD technology, and its promises are ambitious.

While it holds up great for its promise’s sake, delivering impeccable audio to viewers, the issues they pose are just as disadvantageous.

It’s excellent for action-packed films or fantasy plots. The sound it produces encapsulates viewers with a sound that’s almost too real.

However, its various options for user preferences tend to overload its capabilities.

If you need a better visual, think of the term “biting off more than you can chew.”

Vizio has released statements regarding bettering their systems as they are still working on current innovations.

Hopefully, Vizio’s impeccable and flawless audio will arrive sooner than later.

In the meantime, we can help you remedy the situation.

How to Fix Sound Delay on Vizio TV?

Here are four ways to wiggle your way out of bad “lip service.”

One of them being the oldest trick in the book.

Oldie but Goodie: Soft Reboot

Not to sound like another one of Vizio’s customer reps, but have you tried turning it off and on again?

Before you dismiss the idea, have you?

Sometimes all our devices really need is a good reset.

Various programs running at one time to cater to your preferences can overload any device.

Vizio’s processors are powerful, but they aren’t invincible.

Try these steps:

  1. Turn your Vizio TV OFF.
  2. Unplug it from the Power Source.
  3. Wait a few minutes. (Five to ten minutes is best.)
  4. Plug it back into the Power Source.
  5. Turn it back ON.
  6. Observe different channels.
  7. Inspect the audio of two to three channels.

The audio should be in sync by now, but if all your cable channels are working fine, it would also help to check out the streaming platforms on your device.

If you are having trouble with SmartCast linking, the digital handshake between devices might be the problem, or there might be interference in their connection.

In that case, disconnect the wireless connection between the two devices before rebooting your Vizio TV.

Wireless connections can pose issues, especially with external audio devices.

Here’s how you can solve that next.

Outside Listening In: Linking External Speakers to Vizio

If you have rebooted your Vizio and its audio isn’t in sync, it’s best to look into your speakers next.

Wireless connections can falter, especially when the external audio system can’t keep up with Vizio’s innovations.

Hopefully, these steps help sync them together better:

  1. On your Vizio TV, use your remote to open its Menu.
  2. Click on Audio, and look for Lip Sync Adjustment.
  3. You will see a setting that ranges from 0.0 to 5; set it to 2.5.
  4. Save this preference.
  5. Turn external audio devices and your Vizio TV OFF. (You don’t need to unplug them from their power source.)
  6. After a few minutes, turn both devices ON.

Flip through different Sources on your TV to gauge your newly saved preferences. This should be enough to fix the problem, but you can toggle the range higher or lower to suit your liking better.

If your connections aren’t wireless, check the fit of your connections.

Connect and Select: Wired Connectivity Issues

Your trusty HDMI cord might be the culprit here. If you have a PowerBear HDMI Cord, there are fewer chances of it being frayed or sustaining burns, which cause your devices damages leading to technical errors.

If you have an older or weathered model, it might be time to check in on your hardware to see if everything is still in good working condition.

Remember to look for these signs:

  1. First, check for any damages in your hardware.
    1. Are there any singes?
    2. Are there any exposed internal wires?
    3. Are there any abrasions?
    4. Are there any holes?
  2. If there aren’t any visible damages, check if they are appropriately connected.
  3. Secure any loose connections.
  4. Check your devices for any compatibility issues.
    1. Remember, some cords aren’t backward compatible.
    2. Your new Vizio might be too advanced for your older cords.
  5. Replace any cords that need to be changed or upgraded.

You can also check out the instruction manual of your home theater’s devices in case there are audio syncing adjustments you can make.

Some preferences do not only affect wireless connections but wired ones too.

Are Some Platforms More Prone to Audio Sync Issues?

If you are hooked up to DVD players, casting devices, or streaming platforms, there may be lots to blame for the nuisance.

Streaming platforms and casting devices may depend on your internet’s bandwidth.

An internet connection that is too slow to accommodate multi-screen streaming can affect your display’s visuals by lowering the resolution and delaying other audiovisual transmissions.

It is unlikely, but there are instances where bandwidth may be “blocked” if your source’s router is too far or separated from your Vizio by too many walls.

You can opt for an Ethernet Cable to connect your Vizio to your router.

Wired connections are more reliable for audiovisual transmission, but don’t opt for bootleg wires which may corrupt your device’s internal hardware.

Final Words

Hopefully, we have helped you solve your audio issues with these simple solutions.

If none of these work in solving, there may be factory issues you can’t remedy at home.

Check your Vizio TV’s warranty for any repairs and replacements you can avail of to ensure your viewing experience no longer faces any disruptive interferences.
