STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State football faces what should be its toughest non-conference test of the season when Arizona State comes to town on Saturday for a matchup under the lights of Boone Pickens Stadium. The Cowboys need to show more consistency on defense, especially against a Sun Devil offense that delivered some firepower in their opener.

In addition to the game, Oklahoma State will honor its 2002 Houston Bowl championship team as part of the annual Cowboy Football Reunion. Former Oklahoma State running back Terry Miller will also be recognized during the game for his introduction into the College Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2022 class. The theme for Saturday's game is "Stripe BPS." Fans are encouraged to check their seat locations and dress in orange clothing if they are sitting in the 100-level, club-level or suite-level; dress in white clothing if they are sitting in the 200-level; and dress in black clothing if they are sitting in the 300 level.

Betting Info: Oklahoma State is a 12.5-point favorite against Arizona State, per Caesars Sportsbook. The O/U is 57.0. The Cowboys are 0-1 ATS this season. The Sun Devils are 1-0 ATS.

Series History: Saturday will be the fourth all-time meeting between Oklahoma State and Arizona State in a non-conference series that dates back to 1984. The Cowboys upset the No. 12-ranked Sun Devils in the first meeting, 45-3. Arizona State won the next two meetings in 1991 and 1993. This will be the first meeting between Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy and Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards.

Storyline: Overlooked on the Oklahoma State schedule thanks in part to a shaky offseason, Arizona State may not be as bad as many anticipated this preseason. Granted it was against an FCS opponent, but the Sun Devils looked more than solid in a 40-3 win over Northern Arizona last Thursday.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State was inconsistent on defense and let Central Michigan climb back from a 36-point deficit early in the second half. The Cowboys held on to win 58-44 behind a new-and-improved, up-tempo offense, led by redshirt senior Spencer Sanders. The fourth-year starter had a career-high 406 yards passing and matched another career-high with four touchdown passes against the Chippewas. He also rushed for 57 yards with two additional touchdowns on the ground for another career high.

Arizona State's offense is led by a pair of transfers in quarterback Emory Jones, who previously played at Florida, and running back Xazavian Valladay, a four-year standout at Wyoming. The duo combined for 316 total yards and four touchdowns in the Sun Devils' season opener last week.

Arizona State lost 16 scholarship transfers since early December, but added nine incoming transfers to its roster for the 2022 season. The Sun Devils are dealing with an injury bug with starting offensive lineman Joey Ramos (ankle), defensive back Ed Woods (lower body), offensive lineman Des Holmes (undisclosed), defensive lineman Gharin Stansbury (hamstring) are all either out or questionable to play against Oklahoma State, per Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards.

The Cowboys were dealing with some injury issues of their own, none of which seemed to affect its offense. Cowboy Back Blaine Green and wide receiver Jaden Bray — both starters — missed the opener. Their status for Saturday remains unknown.

A win on Saturday would extend Oklahoma State's home win streak to 10, matching the longest such streak in program history. Here is a look at the longest streaks:

  • 10 — Sept. 21, 2002 - Oct. 18, 2003
  • 10 — Oct. 28, 1911 - Nov. 15, 1913 (10)
  • 9 — Nov. 28, 2020 - present (9)
  • 9 — Oct. 20, 2012 - Dec. 7, 2013
  • 9 — Nov. 22, 1930 - Sept. 23, 1932
  • 8 — Sept. 3, 2011 - Sept. 29, 2012
