Attack on Titan Season 3 Episode 15 Reddit

Holy shit. That was an amazing episode and it looks like it's just going to keep getting better! I had to rewind Mikasa's surprise attack a few times, that was just so badass. And poor Armin, the fate of humanity is in his hands. He looked so scared. That luggage titan is so creepy, his face, voice, everything. Also, why wasn't he with Bert, Reiner, and Zeke on top of the wall when there were chatting? I'm pretty sure they are working closely together. They probably think he is creepy too. Also Hange better live I swear to god.

Rewatcher

"What did you mean by 'my Titan,' Reiner? What's this about 'the hole we opened,' Bertholdt?" Marco, I think you know exactly what they mean. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Marco happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. He was able to put together that the Armored and Colossal Titans were humans among them based on Eren's Titan and Reiner and Berutoruto's conversation. Unfortunately for him, Reiner couldn't allow him to live. Seeing this side of Reiner is scary. Annie and Burrito didn't want to have to do this but Reiner kept pushing them, manipulating Annie into getting rid of Marco's ODM gear after suspecting she's gotten too close to their enemies. Ironically, Reiner's been the one who's gotten closest to everyone during these 3 years of training and had unintentionally become the fake role he gave himself. Killing his own friend broke his mind and made him block out all knowledge of his role as a Warrior at the moment. He truly believed he was one of the people from inside the walls to cope with what he had done to Marco. Annie and Boruto could only watch in horror as Marco got eaten and Reiner developed a split personality.

Even though Reiner was an enemy and everyone came here prepared to kill him, it's still not easy for the guys from the 104th. They once looked up to Reiner. Seeing his head blown while everyone else is cheering must give them mixed feelings. Even Jean, who's reminding Connie and Sasha what they came here for, doesn't sound so convincing. You can see it on it his face. He's sad about thinking Reiner is dead after everything they've been through.

But Reiner is still alive and he just gave the signal for Donkey Kong to throw the barrel!

Armin sees this as a chance to talk things out, but Broturd's not willing to compromise. He's not getting fooled by Armin again either. Unlike last time when Armin used his crush on Annie to make him lose his cool, he's staying level headed this time and can call the bluff.

Up until now, Bartender had always been in the background going along with Reiner and not voicing his own thoughts aside from when his old friends surrounded him in season 2 and he gave that rant about how he didn't like doing this job. In this episode, he's much more confident when confronted by Armin and Mikasa. He knows he has a responsibility to carry out this task and he has to do it without relying on Reiner all the time. His reaction to Mikasa's ambush was a big difference from when she was cutting him up on top of the wall back in season 2. This time he fights back and gets away with only losing his ear from her attack. Even Mikasa was surprised. This isn't the same Burgertoe she's known.

No matter what happens, Butthole is able to accept the results. He believes there's nothing that can be done in this situation where both sides have no choice but to try to kill each other because, just as Mikasa said in her backstory early in the series, this world is just that cruel.

Burnttoast's explosive transformation here struck me as odd at first. We've never seen it cause this much destruction before. But looking at it again, it fits with his newfound confidence and resolve. He's always been one of the most timid characters and carried out his job reluctantly. Whenever he transformed before, he had a goal he wasn't so willing to do, whether it be kicking a hole in the wall or capturing Eren after his cover was blown. The most damage he's caused in Titan form was when he dropped from the wall to capture Eren. His transformation in this episode came after he found the resolve to kill everyone present, even with the possibility that Reiner could get caught up in it. Now with his new determination, Birdtoad's transformation resembled a nuke.

While Birthcontrol is laying waste to Shiganshina and Reiner is looking like the aliens from Mars Attacks, all that pressure on Armin is building up. So far this arc has been forcing Armin into a role of leadership that he's struggling with. Erwin put him in charge of a team to search for the enemies in hiding and he wasn't ready to order people around. Now he's in charge of the Levi Squad while Levi is away and his squad is the only one that can stop Bootywarrior since everyone else appears to have gotten killed in the explosion. Everyone's got high expectations for Armin and is counting on him. For someone like him who doubts his own abilities and panics easily, this is the worst position to be in right now.

What do you think of Bertholdt?

Not my favorite of the Warrior trio, but I love the focus he got in this episode. He's stepping out of Reiner's shadow and becoming his own person.

How do you think things would’ve gone if Marco got away fast enough and told other people?

The Warriors would've been in some serious trouble. Their cover would've been blown and the people inside the walls might've gotten a better understanding of Titan shifters. Annie probably would've lost the element of surprise in their expedition and would've been lost searching for Eren since she needed people on the inside to give her Eren's location. Probably a lot of other major changes I can't think of right away.
