Batiste dry shampoo hair loss Reddit

This can be caused by either 1 of two things. If it is causing straight up hair loss (where the hair is falling out from the root), you could have an allergy to something in the dry shampoo. Batiste uses many ingredients and contains unnecessary chemical fillers, as well as perfumes, so the chance of having an allergy or irritation is quite high. If this is the case, stop using the product. There are many safe dry shampoos to use that have more natural ingredients and are less likely to be an irritant. I really like the Fresh Hair dry shampoo by Kevin Murphy. The Water Killer dry shampoo by Evo is also a good one. Both use natural ingredients, and have a very light scent, and I have never had any issues with any of my clients being allergic to these products (even the super sensitive people). So if you cant live without dry shampoo, these would be your best bet.

The second cause, if your hair is just breaking off and not falling out at the root, is most likely breakage caused by adding heat while the dry shampoo is in your hair. This applies even if you didnt use the dry shampoo the day that you used a flat iron or curling iron, but used it the day before. Until you wash it out, it is in your hair. What happens with dry shampoo is because it absorbs the oils from your hair, it can actually travel into the cuticle of your hair, and sit in the hair shaft. When you add heat to the hair (especially the fine baby hairs along your hairline), it will melt the product, causing it to steam in the hair shaft, making the hair even more brittle. Once it cools down, it hardens. Once you pass a comb or brush through the hair in this state that is brittle and fused to the hair shaft, the hair will break off. You can stop this from happening by not using heat anywhere near your roots when you have dry shampoo in your hair.

To help your hair grow back healthy, stay away from heat wherever there is breakage. ALWAYS use a heat protector in your hair when you are blow drying, curling, or straightening. And do a deep conditioning treatment once a week. I would recommend the Aveda Damage Remedy intensive restructuring treatment. It contains protein, which will help strengthen your hair to prevent breakage in the future. Sometimes you have to be careful with protein treatments, as too much protein can have the opposite effect and cause the hair to become more brittle. You wont have to worry about that with the Aveda treatment, as the protein it contains is derived from quinoa, which is a complete protein. When dealing with a complete protein, the hair will only absorb as much as it needs, so you cant overdo it.

Hope this helps.

Just wash it! Scalp health has to come first, no matter what. I dislike dry shampoo because of how much it builds up. Washing often is better (and healthier) than causing genuine scalp irritation, especially when it’s at the point of causing hair loss.

If you’re worried about the lengths being less healthy then I’d question the rest of your routine, not the frequency you shampoo. And just as a note, you might already be doing this, but just shampoo your scalp, not all of your hair (unless you’re covered in mud or something idk).

Taking that first pic nearly brought me to tears, but I wanted to share how well the Batiste tinted dry shampoo is working and helping with my confidence. It's not perfect and gets blotchy if used two days in a row, but it is something. Thanks to this group for teaching me about this product!

A little about me: I am diagnosed with AGA and had to stop all medication 4bor 5 months ago because I am TTC. I have lost all progress I had and then some and it is just adding to the stress of TTC. I really hope it doesn't take much longer because the loss is getting so bad. Sometimes it makes me want to stop TTC all together.

There was an article about the Batiste dry shampoo because it was causing bald patches. I had the same but I didn't realise where it came from until I read about it. I stopped using it and the hair grew back. It wasn't just bald, it was like.. Burnt.. Lumps of skin were chunking off and bleeding off my scalp. Was gross.

The best!!!! And cheaper!!!

Seriously. It's amazing.

Just be careful cuz if you over do it, it will dry out your scalp something fierce and exacerbate your issues.

I have a bunch of the Batiste specifically for dark hair, divine dark I think? But when I spray it on and it dries it’s much closer to light brown and doesn’t look natural on me at all since my hair dark brown… anyone else have that problem with the Divine Dark? I’ve been meaning to try the L’Oréal root magic and the Color Wow root powder

Please be careful and wash it out. Overuse can lead to breakage/hair loss. 💜 (This is just a gentle reminder, don't think you have to stop using it tomorrow, just respect your hair and make sure you're keeping it healthy)

I occasionally use their divine dark tinted dry shampoo but I feel like recently they changed their formula and it’s kinda ass… anyone else noticed this?

level 2

I have noticed that too, but I actually like the new formula better. I feel like I have more control when applying it!

As convenient as it is to spray your way to cleaner-looking hair, using dry shampoo too much can lead to hair breakage, clogged follicles, or hair loss. I do like dry shampoo, but I am very careful not to use it more than once a week or less.

Is dry shampoo thinning my hair?

Overuse can cause dry shampoo to accumulate on your hair follicles. This accumulation can cause inflammation which may accelerate hair shedding. When hair falls out prematurely, there isn't new growth ready to take its place which causes thinning and bald spots. Dry shampoo can cause follicles to stick together.

Does Batiste dry shampoo have sulfates?

Does Batiste Dry Shampoo or Foam contain sulfates? No. Both Batiste Dry Shampoo and Batiste Foam are free of sulfates and parabens. If you have keratin-treated hair, check with your hairdresser before using.

Is Batiste good for your hair?

Batiste dry shampoo is Amazon's No. 1 bestseller in its class and boasts a 4.6-star average rating from more than 14,400 reviews. Foster called Batiste her “all-time holy grail” dry shampoo because of the “very lightweight” and vegan formula that mists nicely onto her natural hair and absorbs grease.

Can dry shampoo cause hair damage?

The short answer is that occasionally using dry shampoo is safe for most people. But using it too often, or for extended periods, could damage your hair and cause scalp problems.
