They are economy touring tires. Their performance is good, but they are meant for fuel economy and are a hard tire. So if you drive economically, it will be fine but noisy, especially with our lack of sound deadening.

If you drive the zoom-zoom lyfe, they will not last. Mine weren't going to last 25k with my driving.

I switch to 225/45r18 Potenza 980AS and it is worlds better for my driving. I can corner harder and it responds better. Most of that is due to them being a sport tire, the increase with width and decrease of sidewall height, and the softer compound. It is much harder to spin the tires with the 2l, they grab on well.

It makes such a small or most of the time nonexistent difference in mpg but such a huge difference in stopping distance and comfort when comparing either of those to quality GT tires I don’t think it’d be smart to buy either of them. The EU requires tire companies to post a fuel economy grade on the data sheet for tires sold there. What I found while looking through them is the European equivalents to those tires got a C or B in fuel economy based on their LRR figures. Those are the same grades that quality GT tires received but GT are quieter, more comfortable, longer lasting, and safer.

You’re being sold a bare bones passenger car tire for the price of a Grand Touring tire. Don’t believe every bit of marketing you see. I’ve looked long and hard for any data to support the claims made by Bridgestone, Michelin, or Goodyear about their LRR tires and I’ve found absolutely nothing. I don’t care what Billy Bob said on some forum about him getting 5 or 10 more mpg with his LRR tires.

The European version of the Yokohama Avid Ascend GT had the same fuel economy grade depending on the size measured, is better in every way, and is significantly cheaper.

Got a 2021 Premium not too long ago, and debating what I want to do with the OEM tires that it came with. Where I live, during winter it primarily rains with occasional snow here and there…however, every so often I will be making drives through a mountain pass where during winter it can snow quite heavily. Probably 3 or so such drives in any given year.

My question to everyone here is what is your opinion on these tires in the snow? From doing online research, the consensus is they are ok at best, to fairly poor at worst. If I had to get the perfect tires, it would be the Michelin CrossClimate2, but those are pricey.

Given I will only make occasional drives in the snow, would the ecopia h/l 422 plus be good enough in everyone’s opinion? Thank you!

These tires replaced Michelin Defenders on 2012 Prius Plug In. They are much smoother/quieter. MPG seems about the same, but it's only been a week. Around town they are great, but at freeway speeds they're all over the place and do not want to track a straight line. Car serviced two weeks ago and I was told the alignment looks fine. Tire guy at Costco said the same.

Any chance this will get better? Purchased at Costco, so I assume they're returnable for the first 30 days.

Bought some bf Goodrich all season tires for my Prius from there a couple months, so far they are great

Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 Plus. I love mine!

I look for performance and grip in rain/winter weather when I buy my all season tires. I don't care about tread life or rolling resistance or road noise. With that criteria, the best all season I've tried so far (and I've tried a lot) is the Sumitomo HTR A/S P02. Bonus: they're very cheap and last a long while.

level 2

I had those sumitomos on a 2002 Camry. Loved the grip, but they wore quickly, maybe 40k. I'm 60k onto my Michelin Defender A/S tires on my 2014 Prius with 6/32nds left. They were $120 or so plus installation. Great wet weather grip, put the OEM tires to shame, with about a 2mph hit.

Have a set of those on my Prius C, the difference from the OEM tires is night and day. Very little sidewall flex and good grip both dry and wet. Can't wait till winter to see how they handle the last season.

I run Michelin Premier A/S during spring/summer/fall and Bridgestone Blizzak during winter on my 05. Give your car every traction advantage you can in every situation - it may just save your life.

Just purchased the Blizzak's for the impending New England winter. I could not believe the difference when I pulled off the lot. I'm pretty pumped for some snow now

Michelin Defenders have served me well on my v 3 (16” wheels”) for the last 60k. It’s about time for me to replace them; I’m getting another set!

Get the PriusChat fave Michelin Energy Saver A/S that are rated for 65k miles. BJs has them.

Can we do an impromptu poll of how many of us have kept the gray aero covers on the tires or removed them and rock the all black wheel underneath? I removed mine the second day

level 2

I have a dark gray paint, so the black of the wheel looks just a bit too different, but not contrasting enough. So I've kept my covers on.

The 17 has great silver grey rims underneath. I lost one of my covers and thought holy hell, these have been hiding under there the whole time? Binned all of them.

I actually had one fall off so I’m rocking the 3 gray one black. But if removing all caps is a thing I might hop on that
