Having never ridden a horse before...

Martyn_E, Mar 2018

Having never ridden a horse before, I was unsure what to expect. But our guide put my at ease no problem, although my daughter being an experienced rider did help ! Interesting, and leisurely ride around the famous park.... seeing how the citizens of New York can relax in a country atmosphere.

A Walk in the Park. It was a great...

Kelly W, July 2017

A Walk in the Park. It was a great way to spend a bit of time and see the fall colors in the park. Most New Yorkers didn't even know, as they passed us, that you could rent/ride horses in the park. Because of the Marathon going on the day we were there, our walk was apparently cut in half. Also, because of the change in logistics, our meeting place was changed. I didn't get the notification and thought they did send a bike-shaw to take us from the meeting spot to the new spot, we did have a reduced ride time and the rest of the schedule I sure was messed up. The horses are massive and they don't have a weight limit like many places I've seen. However, with the massive size of the horses, getting onto them from a simple 2 step concrete block in the side of the bridle path was a bit difficult for me. the Guide was not mounted, but walked along the horses which also limited the amount of ground covered. He also did not speak much English, this tour is a walk in the park, not a tour or informative journey. As you are on the back of a moving animal you are guiding, you will not be able to use this walk to take pictures. You will also only be on bridle paths and not near any notable landmarks. Due to the size of the horses, you may not want to ride too long, but it was a memorable activity. We had fun even if the sites were limited. I do wish we ere able to talk more with our guide about the park and the city.
