Foster Farms frozen chicken wings in air fryer

I've just had the most amazing homemade frozen wings that have probably ever existed.

Step 1: Buy the Foster Farms Crispy Take Out Wings from Costco or wherever.

Step 2: Cook those fools on 360 in the air fryer for 12 minutes.

Step 3: Flip em

Step 4: Re-fire those fools for 6 minutes on 400.

Heat up the sauce in the microwave if you like. It's pretty good.

*Use a meat thermometer to ensure safe meat temps as each fryer is different.

Ingredient notes & substitutions

  • Frozen chicken wings: This recipe can be made with any type of frozen chicken wings. Shown above are pre-cooked and seasoned chicken wings, but you can also use raw seasoned chicken wings, raw or pre-cooked breaded chicken wings and raw or pre-cooked wings without seasoning.
  • Other cuts of chicken: These instructions work for other cuts of chicken as well, such as drumsticks. For larger cuts like drumsticks you will need to add 5 minutes to the cook times.
  • Olive oil can be swapped for a different type of vegetable oil. Oil can also be skipped, but helps the wings cook nicely. You can also use cooking spray instead, lightly sprayed in the air fryer * basket and on top of the wings.
  • Seasoning should be added if you are cooking unseasoned wings, add it after the first round of cooking (see instructions below). I recommend using the seasoning for my Air Fryer Chicken Drumsticks but any chicken seasoning you love will work.

Recipe FAQ

How long do you cook frozen wing in the air fryer?

This depends mainly on the size of the wings. You will generally need 10-15 minutes, but depending on the size of the wings and the specific air fryer model you're using you could require more or less time.

How do you cook Tyson frozen wings in an air fryer?

Cook Tyson frozen wings at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes. After 5 minutes, drain the liquid from the bottom and season the wings as desired. Before serving, make sure the internal temperature has reached 165°F (74°C).

How do I make my air fryer wings crispy?

There are a few things you can do to ensure your wings come out crisp, and neither requires you to add baking powder!

1. Don't overcrowd your air fryer basket - cook the wings in a single layer and leave some space between them as well
2. Turn the wings at least once - the circulating air should take care of an even cook, but I like to flip them once just to be sure
3. Drain excess liquid from the bottom of the basket- if there's a lot of liquid there (this especially happens if you cook raw wings) the wings can come out more steamed than crispy

Sauces to serve them with

These wings are a great snack as they are, and even better when served with your favorite dipping sauce. Here here are my favorites:

  • 5-minute Blue Cheese Dressing
  • Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
  • Chipotle Ranch Dressing
  • 2-minute Gluten Free BBQ Sauce
  • Whipped Feta Cheese (Tyrosalata)

How do you cook Foster Farms frozen wings?

Preheat to 450 °F. * Cover baking sheet with foil and spray with a non-stick spray. * Heat FROZEN wings 30 to 35 minutes or THAWED wings 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through. * For crispier wings: Leave in oven for an additional 5 to 10 minutes.

Is it safe to cook frozen chicken wings in air fryer?

Yes, you can. In general, my preferred method is to cook the wings from fresh or thawed. It only takes a couple of hours to defrost frozen chicken in cold water. But, air frying your wings from frozen only takes an additional 6-10 minutes if you are only using a pound of wings.
