Consider booking either Gold Tower Club room or Rush Tower Gold Club room. Resort fees are waived. You get to check in in the VIP lounge. VIP lounge has infused water and snacks available for free. Coffee, Fruit and snacks available mornings and afternoons by the elevator on your floor. Room key needed to access Gold Club room floors. Spa passes included and allows you to use the steam room, sauna, and whirlpool for free as well as the Spa amenities. The Spa has everything provided if you forget to pack anything. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, lotion, combs, brushes, deodorant, shampoo, mouthwash, qtips, makeup remover. Infused water and fruit in the spa. Bathrobes and sandals provided. It is so relaxing to visit the spa.

rooms also have free coffee and fridges. It is very worth paying a little extra to avoid resort fee and getting some extra special treatment.

  1. So, bit of a long story, I "have to" upgrade my room at the Golden Nugget for my stay there in March. I "have to" because I need to meet a spend minimum for an American Express offer that I'm redeeming, in order to get the statement credit, and I don't have any other foreseeable hotel bookings I can spend the extra money on. Seems like it's a good problem to have, but it's been driving me crazy since I realized I'd fall just $75 short of a $900 spend minimum and can't think of a dang thing to spend it on, other than upgrading my room at GN.

The truth is, I'm perfectly happy staying in a Carson Tower room, based on everything I've read and all of the pictures that I've seen. But now that I'm basically being given a choice between the Gold and Rush towers, I'd like to be sure that I'm making the best choice.

That being said, I'd like to know if there are any major differences between the rooms in these towers that might sway my decision. I've heard things about some towers having things like coffee and fresh fruit served in the morning. But I can't really pick up on any key differences, other than just different decor, from looking at the pages of each room type on Golden Nugget's site.

Any Golden Nugget experts able to provide some insights?

This would be a Thursday checkin in late March, if that makes a difference.

Here's a thread that leans Rush. I splurged on a Rush Junior Corner Suite for a birthday trip and loved it. There were two other couples on the trip, and we'd meet at the Suite to pregame...

    • Seems to echo everything I've read about it... thanks for the link!

How beneficial did you find the dedicated check-in desk?

The fruit and coffee you mention are in the Rush Gold Rooms (top 3 floors of Rush Tower). If you want the convenience of being near the casino you should choose Gold Tower. The Rush Tower Rooms seem larger than the Gold Tower. I have stayed in the Gold Tower, Rush Gold Tower, Regular Rush Rooms and Carson. The regular Rush rooms are my choice. Also the dedicated check in desk is not always open.

    • I'd take the Rush every time.

Hardly any further from the casino, and nice to have a proper sized bathtub & bathroom, too.

I’m not a fan of the Carson rooms there functional, nothing wrong with them but others had said farthest from the casino and Frémont Street. I’d almost argue 4Q rooms are closer to the Nugget Frémont entrance and with the recent remodel not much worse in quality.

I’d say Rush and Gold are comparable and both a big upgrade over Carson. Rush seems to have bigger bathrooms and doesn’t have window AC units. Carson is closer to the casino floor and Frémont but I’d say distance is marginal when comparing to the Carson.

Sorry slight derail if you have a Landry’s card do they still do the upgrade? Any chance it won’t work for certain days? Only way I’d stay at GN is it’s a Rush or Gold room but don’t want to pay for it.

        • Funny, 4Q is actually where I wanted to stay in the first place, but it’s nearly 2x the cost of the base room at Golden Nugget on those dates if you can believe it

And I do not have a Landry’s card... I’ve considered getting it though. I have to book this through American Express travel, so I can’t book it direct... anyone know if that would make a difference in eligibility for upgrade with the Landry’s card?

My basic understanding is you do need to book through the Landry’s or GN site.

Also gosh no way I’m staying at 4Q for twice the price of a Carson room. Ah tough choice.

        • It’s actually close to being “worth it”...

Carson room at Golden Nugget is $103 CAD per night for three nights. Gold is $130 CAD, Rush is $140 CAD. All of these are about +$35 USD per night for the resort fee, with tax.

Basic room at 4Q is $187 CAD, and naturally no resort fee. So if I book the Rush tower room, I’ll actually be paying exactly the same amount either way.

Ok yeah no way I’d pay the price of a Rush room for a 4Q wouldn’t pay the price of a Carson room. Have you looked at other hotels?

        • I have... none are realistic options, as I have to be downtown during this stretch. Plaza/MSS/Cal/Fremont are all just under the cost of 4Q, and American Express doesn't list The D, Downtown Grand, or Golden Gate.

I'm cool with it, because with the statement credit I'm getting I'm paying next to nothing for two weekend stays (this one in Vegas, and one later this month in Philly). I'm just miffed because I was so excited to finally stay at 4Q, and I'd feel like an utter idiot paying the same price for a 4Q north tower room as I would for a GN Rush Tower room.

Plus you’ll probably complain about something and get the resort fee waived. Haha I kid.

Screw resort fees, fair game I say.

            • Any chance a Landry’s gift card purchase would count towards your Amex spend? They are the parent company of GN. They own a bunch of restaurant brands.

            • It's not general spend on the Amex, it's travel bookings made through Amex travel. The promo is if I spend $900 or more on pre-paid hotel bookings, I get a $300 statement credit. So having booked this hotel for $399 and another hotel on another trip for $514, my $913 cost is reduced to $613.

            • Update: Ended up going with the Gold tower. It would have been $30-ish extra to get Rush, and I figured I could spend that money on much better things.

              • Not sure how you roll, but I request poolside in Gold tower. The other side of the hall faces the street, and gets noise from Fremont and the event center.

Golden Nugget Gold Tower vs Rush Tower

What is the difference between the Gold Tower and the Rush Tower at the Golden Nugget?

The Gold Tower is the most centrally located of all the towers, and is within easy walking distance to the casino, a few restaurants, and the pools. The Rush Tower is the newest, quietest, and least smoky building of the bunch.

Which tower at the Golden Nugget is the newest?

The Rush Tower is our newest built tower, opening in 2009. Rush Tower provides luxury rooms and suites with redefined spacious layouts, contemporary furnishings and designer finishes.

What is the difference between Carson Tower and Gold Tower?

The rooms at the Carson and Gold are basically the same. The biggest reason for me to choose the Gold Tower is the close proximity to casino and not fighting crowds. Staying in a Gold tower room you get off the elevator and are in the casino.

Where is the Rush Tower at Golden Nugget?

Rush Tower at Golden Nugget is located at 129 E Fremont in Downtown, 0.5 miles from the center of Las Vegas. Fremont Street Experience is the closest landmark to Rush Tower at Golden Nugget.
