Do you guys go the steam route or the unofficial HD patch route?

I got the unofficial patch because I think it's better.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 HD

Check out transistor.

It has tons of athmosphere with unique graphics and awesome soundtrack. It's got a mix of real-time and turn based combat + an interesting way to combine abilities.

Apart from that it's very different from HoMM, but it's relaxing and fun to play.

I think you might also enjoy Child of Light.

Both are cheap, well-made relaxing and beautiful games.
