It'll be hot though so be careful and use gloves or a pot holder. So put that in your pipe and smoke it Sharknado cuz I ain't spending no 20 bucks(which is about half the price of my mop) on a smallish bottle of lackluster cleaner with mystery ingredients that lasts maybe 6 moppings. After I did that one time the top just screws off normally without doing the boiling water hack. Results may vary though so don't quote me on the one time thing. In my case I fill the empty bottle with hydrogen peroxide and one tbsp baking soda which is an excellent cleaner FOR CERAMIC TILE. Not sure about other floors so do your research if you want to try that. Another tip is to rub some petroleum jelly on the rubber O-ring that seals the bottle to the mop preventing leaks. This extends the life of the O-ring so it'll outlive you. Or you could replace it for about $0.30 at Ace if needed. So it's your call. (Amazon: In your infinite wisdom if you don't approve of my comments concerning Sharknado and their cleaning bottle fiasco then please feel free to edit that out. As well as this epilogue/afterword. The Shark cleaner top does not screw off.( much like the Swiffer liquid bottles, but much smaller) But,I have filled an old Windex spray bottle with vinegar & water( big fan of that) and sprayed the floor and steamed over that, which worked pretty good. Even if I could get the top off the Shark liquid,I think the vinegar& water solution might cause problems with the "guts" of the machine itself. Hope this helps!

You can push the circular button down on the top with a pair of scissors and with some precise pouring put whatever liquid you would like through the tiny opening. It takes patience but eventually you'll have a full bottle to reuse in your shark. No unscrewing necessary.

I only have used the cleaner Shark offers, and the cap on the bottle of cleaner twist off, it does fit tight.

I followed the comment below and was able to get the lid off without mangling to badly with a regular screw driver. I used a dremel to file down the little locking nobs(not sure if that's what they are called). The lid now screws on and off without locking.

I was able to get the screw top off with a flat tool, just have to line the the notches up with the bottle when putting back on or it leaks

I also put the cleaner I use on the floor first and then steam clean. Saves money!
