How long does Kybella swelling Last Reddit

My dermatologist thought I had excellent results with kybella. I did 4 treatments. I can’t tell the difference at all.

My mom is also a lifelong double chin person. When she had a facelift at 50 her surgeon did her chin. He told her it was a loose ligament and the fix was to snip it and sew it back together. Ie. not an easy thing unless you’re in there anyway. It looks great 15 years later. She said it felt like she was wearing a helmet/chinstrap for about a year.

I did kybella because it was easy. I won’t bother with lipo. I’m planning on a ligament snip when I get a facelift in my mid 40s (probably)

Note if your pre chin profile doesn’t look similar to mine (submental fat vs general fat) I don’t know if your healing journey will exactly go like mine. But here we are: :)

Swelling : the bullfrog went down in probably 24 hours. The noticeable swelling lasted for about a week. I noticed it was swollen but friends didn’t - or at least no one said anything ;) Luckily we have masks so no one notices when you’re wearing it. But, if you must take the mask off in public just shift it to your chin and don’t actually take it off so it still covers your chin- if that makes sense.

Working out: Doc said to wait at least 24-48 hours for fluids to dissolve. For the first 2-3 weeks it doesn’t hurt to work out but you feel the sloshing of your neck fat, your neck feels stiff, and the heart rate increase makes the pressure on your throat more noticeable. I live in the snow rn so had to wear a scarf when I snowshoed 2 weeks after because if “Gertrude” got too cold it felt a soft choking pressure. For reference its like a “sexual” choke not a “omg I can’t breath” choke lol. There’s no risk to work out just whatever you feel comfortable with.

Ice: Doc told me no ice. Swelling = working. You want the fat cells to swell and die. Only ice if pain is bad, not to help with swelling. Don’t over ice as that actually will cause pain. Fun fact- the only part that “hurt” was my anxiety and the needle injections not the recovery process so you shouldn’t need to ice- I didn’t.

As someone who had a major anxiety attack right before the injections to where I almost called it off - it’s not a bad process at all. Sure you look funny for a week or two after every set of injections but you have a snatched chin for forever. Never have to do it again once you get your desired results. Seems worth it to me in the long run!!

I’ll continuously post updates. I highly recommend looked at the website RealSelf. It’s real people posting their journeys with Kybella or any other cosmetic procedures. You’ll see about 60% satisfaction rate but a lot of the reviews are “undecided” because they are in the process of getting the treatment so it’s a little deceiving. Mine is in their as well which has my whole journey.

Under Kybella reviews sort them from “most recent” and you’ll quickly find mine:) if not I can message you a link.

I say if you want to do Kybella it’s the literal best time to with masks and all.

Kybella took me A WHILE to recover from. First and foremost it swells the injected area a whole lot. Like an uncomfortable amount and I felt very weird going out in public and to work. It was also very tender and bruised, yes. The bruising then goes down the neck and in my case turned it yellow after a while. The procedure itself was moderately painful but I also had ultherapy which was WAY worse.

I had better results from ultherapy but I haven’t done any more rounds of kybella because of the swelling. I heard you need a few to really make it work.

How long does Kybella swelling Last Reddit

I’m going in for my first Kybella treatment on Thursday but my injector says I’ll only be needing one vial since the fat around my chin is subtle but I’m still a good candidate for the treatment. I was wondering how long I could expect the swelling to last? My injector said about 3 days but has anyone only had one vial and experienced worse? In my past experience I’ve had minimal swelling and little to no bruising with fillers so I’m under the impression that occasionally these symptoms can be exaggerated but I don’t want to be naive about it either.
