How long would it take to get from east to West?

Just going by the numbers, walking coast to coast would probably be barely doable in 90 days for a very fit person-- They'd need to walk a more than the length of a marathon every day. It would be a rough time, though-- there would be long stretches without access to food/ shelter/ plumbing, and long stretches of areas that would be deeply unpleasant for a pedestrian.

For comparison sake, the record for the pacific crest trail is 51 days, 16 hours and 55 minutes. That's about 100 miles less than NY to LA, but is pretty much entirely without food/shelter/plumbing and also requires traversing a desert and 57 major mountain passes.

Comparatively, I feel like NY to LA in 90 days would be much easier. Though we're obviously talking very dedicated, fit people here. 20 miles a day is more realistic for a more "average" person which would put the trip at more in the 4-5 month range.
