How to get Gengar without trading Pokemon X

Q: Do you need to trade to evolve Gengar?

To evolve your Haunter in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, youre going to have to trade it to another player. Once the Haunter is in the other players possession, it will evolve to a Gengar. Yes, this means you wont be able to see it evolve. The other player will then have to trade the newly evolved Gengar back to you.

Yes, but only with a few methods. While only one of these technically evolves Haunter, the rest allow you to find a Gengar.

In Generation 4, when the GTS was still up, there was a glitch that could be performed. This glitch allowed you to evolve trade evolutions without actually trading the Pokemon.

A little more information in my source.

Gengar is in the 5th room from the left on the 2nd floor (I'm pretty sure it's the room with the eyes in the picture) if you have a GBA Pokemon game in the GBA slot. The GBA game must be in the slot when you turn the DS on. As for Gengar itself, it is a very rare random encounter- about a 1 in 25 chance of finding it.

In Yellow, there is a glitch that allows you to get a Gengar. It's a relatively long process, which is noted in my source.

In Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Gengar can be called as an SOS ally in the abandoned Thrifty Megamart.

In Sword and Shield, Gengar can be found at Giant's Cap, Giant's Mirror, South Lake Miloch, or the Stony Wilderness, the last of which it can only be found in Max Raid battles.

How to get Gengar?

Do I have to trade a haunted or is there another way? If its only trading could I get a friend code and trade haunters? Mine is level 58.

please go to the X/Y trading boards and post "looking to trade my haunter for your haunter"and yes,Gengar is trade evolution only.you cannot get him anywhere else.Give me your FC and maybe I can give you a Gengar.

Can't find any Gastly's and no one seems to know where they are.

in the grass in the swampy area south of Laverre are wild Haunters, after that there are tons of people on the GTS that are trading any haunter for any haunter.

I found Haunters in the Frost Cave, down in the room with the large blue ice rock.

How do you get Gengar without trading in Pokemon X?

There is no NPC in Pokémon X or Y that will trade you a Haunter. In order to get a Gengar, you simply have to trade Pokémon with someone who gives you a Haunter (or just trade your own Haunter two times). This means that you have to trade with another human in order to obtain a Gengar.

Can Haunter evolve without being traded?

There is currently no way to evolve Haunter into a Gengar in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet other than trading.
