Supplies Needed:

  • Paper
  • Toilet paper roll
  • Hot glue gun
  • Black sharpie

Cut and roll a black sheet of paper around the tp roll and glue it. Cut out all the other pieces and glue them on too. So cute!

Toilet Paper Roll Witch – Materials

  • One toilet paper roll per witch
  • Half a toilet paper roll per cat
  • Black paper for the witch’s hat and dress (and cat)
  • Contrasting paper scraps for witch’s hat (optional)
  • Orange wool/ yarn (or use orange paper, fake straw)
  • Googly eyes (optional)
  • Confetti for decorating (optional)
  • Glue
  • Pen
  • Scissors

TP Roll Witch’s Broom – Materials

  • A stick
  • Some brown packing paper
  • Scissors
  • A little glue

We have a choice of Toilet Paper Roll Witch Video instructions or step by step photo instructions. I apologise.. that I am a bit off centre in some of the steps. But the video is still clear enough. Sigh. Not everything is perfect!! Right?!



Step by Step Instructions for making a Toilet Paper Roll Witch with Preschool

Let’s begin to make our cute and easy little witch. Though today’s witch is made using paper and glue, you can substitue the paper dress with paint!

Making the Toilet Paper Roll Witch’s Hair

Wrap some orange yarn around your hand and cut at one end. It is only an approximation and it really doesn’t matter how much yarn you cut and exactly how long it is.

I also cut some of the strands in half – that you will need for the fridge.

Add lots of glue to the rim of the Toilet Paper Roll and down the side. Place the yarn over this and glue in place.

Now glue the short yarns perpendicularly across to make the Witch’s fringe. Let dry and start on the paper hat in the meantime!

Note: we used the photos here from our TP Roll Scarecrow, mainly because the “brown” is easier to see than the black of the Witch Hat!

We are making a “classic” paper hat. It is the same Origami Paper Hat pattern that you use to make an Origami boat – so if you wish to see a video on how to make a Origami Paper hat – hop over to our Paper Boat post!

Fold your paper in half and make a neat crease (image 2).

Fold in half again – then open it – so you have a crease down the middle (image 3).

Next, you will need to fold the corner in (image 4).

Repeate on the other side (image 1).

Now fold the bottom flap up (image 2). NOTE: for the Paper Witch Hat, I folded this flap in half again and glued in place.

Flip your paper hat over and fold the second flap up (image 3). If you wish, secure with a little glue! NOTE: for the Paper Witch Hat, I folded this flap in half again and glued in place.

Finally (optional), you can fold the top of your paper hat down too (image 4). NOTE: this step is omitted from the Witch Hat! Instead, we add a green band of paper for decoration.

But lots of glue on the inside of the had and snuggly squeaze it onto the Witch’s head.

This is super quick and easy! Glue and draw on your Witch facial features.

Then measure out some black paper to fit the witch, cut, decorate and glue in place.
