Show LegendariesMewUnique among the legendary Pokémon is Mew, whose requirements for spawning are rather obscure and not entirely indicated by the game's text about it. This section will explain the specifics around Mew's spawn requirements and hopefully make your life easier when you go to search for Mew. Mew is found exclusively in the Buried Relic dungeon, and its Friend Area is Final Island, which you will need to purchase to be able to recruit Mew. The Music BoxWhen you fight the 3 Regis in Buried Relic, each one of them drops a Part with the name that matches their name and type. Collect all 3, and upon picking up the 3rd Part, they will combine to form a Music Box. Do not use this Music Box. If you do, it will disappear from your inventory and you will be unable to find Mew! (If you do lose the Music Box, you can get another by fighting the Regis again to get the Parts, though.) All you need to do is keep it in your inventory when continuing through Buried Relic to allow Mew to spawn. Note that you can create multiple Music Boxes, and you can also bring the Music Box to the dungeon if you already have it. None of this will affect your ability to find Mew. If you have any Music Box in your inventory, Mew has a chance to spawn. SpawningOnce you have the Music Box in your inventory, you will be able to potentially find Mew on any floor between 36 and 98. (Note that floor 99 cannot have Mew.) However, Mew does not spawn on the floor using the same rules as other Pokémon. Mew spawns as follows:
(I am as of yet unsure if it is possible to use a Transfer Orb or step on a Pokémon Trap and cause Mew to spawn that way, although evidence points to those methods being impossible.) Finding and Recruiting MewIf Mew is on a floor when you initially spawn into the floor, you will not know this from the beginning. Thus, you may need to search floors somewhat in order to find Mew and recruit it. A common strategy is to equip X-Ray Specs on your leader Pokémon. When you enter a floor, make note of how many red dots you see and where they are located. Try to hunt down every red dot that is on the floor from the beginning to see if that Pokémon is Mew. Remember also that Mew can spawn sleeping, so don't forget to check sleeping Pokémon. If you see a lot of items in a room, check it out in case it's a Monster House; those can spawn Mew as well. You can also tell more quickly if Mew is on a floor by paying attention to the Message Log. Mew can have the move Transform, which it will sometimes use randomly on a floor, even if you are not nearby - there seems to be no rhyme or reason to when Mew (and Ditto) chooses to use Transform, so keep your eyes peeled in case you see that message come up on your screen. Remember also that Mew, like any other Pokémon, can pick up an item if it steps on it, and those messages are shown on the Message Log as well. Mew can walk (float) over water. I recommend bringing a Pokémon that can naturally move over water or has a mobile IQ Skill (All-Terrain Hiker or Super Mobile) or item (Mobile Scarf, Mobile Orb) so that you can check out water areas in case Mew is hiding out in them. Note that Mew using Transform does not change what terrain it can move over! If you see a Sandshrew walking on water after seeing Mew use Transform, that Sandshrew has to be the Mew. Conversely, if you see a Haunter that does not seem to be able to go through walls, that Haunter would have a high chance to be Mew as well. Keep your eyes peeled so that you don't miss enemy Pokémon doing odd things that might point to their being Mew. As for recruiting Mew, you have to follow the same rules laid out in "How to Recruit Pokémon": your leader has to finish it from an adjacent tile; you have to have Mew's Friend Area; you have to have space in your party. Be careful in letting allies attack enemy Pokémon, especially in floors where Mew uses Transform, so that you don't accidentally have a teammate fight Mew before your leader is able to. Upon recruiting Mew, you will automatically leave the dungeon, giving no chance for Mew to subsequently faint and leave your rescue team. Recruit and Spawn RatesMew has a 0.9% recruit rate; it's recommended to use a high-level Pokémon and the Friend Bow due to the combination of odd spawn conditions plus a relatively low recruit rate. Mew's spawn rates are listed below.
Mew can take several tries and is often a source of frustration for players. Be patient and keep trying! How do you recruit Mew?Once in the dungeon, defeat Regirock, Regice, and Registeel on floors 15, 25, and 35 and you'll be given a Music Box item which causes Mew to be summoned randomly between floors 36 and 99. As with all encounters, the recruitment is random so it might take a few tries before he's willing to join your team.
How do you recruit in red rescue team?Red and Blue Rescue Team
The player must have bought the Friend Area that a prospective team member belongs to. This means that some Pokémon cannot be recruited until the post-game, because their Friend Areas aren't available for purchase until then.
Do you need friend Bow to recruit Mew?Things you will need:
Friend Bow (you can get one at solar cave 20f if you don't have it) Inviting orb for extra recruit chance (random drop/shop)
How do you get Mew in buried relic?Mew Location - Buried Relic
Mew can only be found from B36F and down of the Buried Relic Dungeon. It will appear randomly with no fixed location so you will have to seek it out in floor rooms to be able to find it.
