How to sell multi tool NMS

Hello all

So the latest update gave us the option to have multiple MultiTools and switch between them with the Quick Menu. So far so good... however, for reasons I don't want to get into right now, I've got an old/outdated MultiTool in my collection that I would like to delete or sell. Is there any way to do this?

The only idea I have so far is to switch back to my outdated MultiTool using the Quick Menu and then swapping it in for a new MultiTool but I'd actually just like to delete or sell it.

Anyone know?

How to sell unused multi tools?

Came across an upgrade and dismantled all the stuff on the old tool. How can I get rid of it?

There's no way, in game, to sell off a multi tool. The only way to get rid of one is to use the option to exchange it for a different one when getting a new multi tool. And yes, I know it's stupid.

yeah, best you can do, is before buying a new one, switch to the old junky one, and then "exchange" the junky one for the one you're buying

Have not tried it yet, but it appears to be similar to ships pre-Syn. You can exchange only at this point.

Since multiple tools seems like a complete waste of time, I think it is just going to be a style thing.

You could make the case that there is some minor strattegic advantage to upgrading multiple tools with low slot counts with a different focus in the very early game, but as soon as you find a 24 slot weapon that is gone.

I guess someone could make the case they would rather have three cute pistols with specific addons versus having a 24 slot all purpose. I did run into an S class tool with 8 or 10 slots the other day. Did not take it since I already have a 24 slot S class.

Unless I am missing something, you can just ignore the one you aren't using. If you do find another one you want to acquire, then equip the one you don't want to keep then exchange it for the new one you do want to add to your collection.

Nah I have seen some multitools with like near 1500 dmg but not that amazing scanning and ones with only good scanning and only 500ish dmg.

I did read a post recently that having a crappy extra one works out if you switch galaxies. You can use the crappy one during the exchange and only it gets wrecked, instead of your good one.

yep, my new save has 3 Tools = 1 more on Mining/Scan Focus + 1 more on Battle Focus AND my starting Tool wich i use while travel Galaxies^^

Was given 2, came on here to sell them, but now that you mention it, mining and fighting in separate pistols would help

While it annoyed me initially having to carry around a "junk" multitool for a while, the additional MT's you pick up are well hidden in the menus so it's really not a big deal at all.

It's also nice having the ability to "bank" a nice design in a spare slot while continuing to look for a better looking or better grade version, so that if you don't end up finding one you can just upgrade the C/B class you picked up instead.

1 - I never tried it, but some said you can remove the extra multitool using saved editor.
2 - You can ignore the extra multi-tool.
3 - You can trade the extra multi-tool away just for the sake of collecting good looking multi-tools for you to have.
4 - You can specialize multi-tools for specific actions. You can have a Pistol for Mining, Experimental for Scanning, Alien/Rifle for Combat, etc
5 - In case you want the way of "4", remember you can set up hotkeys for Multi-tools. Since I am using two of them, one of them is my "1" number hotkey, the other one is my "2". Easy to swap, since most games have 1/2 to change weapons . (like in FPS games).

As for a 2020 post, it hasn't changed since then so still mostly relevant :)

I was about to say "it's just like ships" then remembered we can salvage ships now.

Soooo....... Maybe we should be able to salvage multitools like we do ships?
